Why I Regret Replacing Our Blink Video Doorbell with the Ring Video Doorbell

Purchase the Ring Video Doorbell here – https://geni.us/jcbi

This video outlines the reasons I regret replacing my Blink video doorbell with the Ring video doorbell.

The main reason for me is the monthly subscription to access stored video. I understand both Ring and Blink require subscriptions but Blink offers specials from time-to-time of FREE storage subscriptions. We do not pay Blink any monthly fee for our storage.

I agree 100% do not buy Ring low battery life

  5. @Eli-ro3dn on May 23, 2025 at 3:45 pm

Ive just put new lithium batteries in my blink doorbell and they only lasted two days – trying to find out why – the original batteries had lasted about 7 months.

  6. @there_is_nothing_here on May 23, 2025 at 3:49 pm

Blink absolutely sucks. they record a maximum of 60 seconds a video.I can tell you from experience 60 seconds isn’t always enough time to capture an entire incident. It doesn’t always pick up. I’ve had delivery guys pull right up to my house and the camera does not pick it up. How it misses a giant van I don’t know. I gave it a one star out of five. Let’s put it this way I paid $100 for a year subscription to blink. I’m canceling early to get a refund of 45 bucks. Oh yeah and if you have pets it can and will go through batteries. It uses lithium ion and those aren’t cheap. I ended up having to buy a 30 ft USB cord.

    Solution, bay ring or wyze.

    good stuff, ty sir.

  9. @GeekDetour on May 23, 2025 at 3:50 pm

Ok… I need to say I was expecting something more interesting than "oh, there is a subscription" to make you regret.

  10. @ryszarddopierala6624 on May 23, 2025 at 3:50 pm

    Before buying ring / think.

  11. @momof4121 on May 23, 2025 at 3:50 pm

Blink is horrible it only works when someone pushes the button and it only shows you a blink of time 😂it’s hard to have multiple users using the app and you can not play back

    Thanks!

  13. @jerrymagoto2031 on May 23, 2025 at 3:51 pm

Blink doorbell is junk can’t get it to connect to mini for the chime.

  14. @nestoradrian1088 on May 23, 2025 at 3:51 pm

Ring doorbell wants to rip you off, by any mean avoid them. And I’m sick and tired of subscriptions.

Thanks! Almost bought one… going back to get it tomorrow.

Just today, I got a ring notification and a video from a neighbor that showed some guy trying to open someone’s door at night. This is through the neighborhood app that you get with the ring doorbell. It happened less than 3 miles away. I think it was the same guy that tried my door and my neighbors doors a few years ago. I tried to comment on it. My comment was denied. It said I was too far away. 2.9 miles. Sure I was too far away (Sarcasm.) If its too far away, dont send it to me! I tried to make a post criticizing ring for doing this after years of me receiving and commenting on videos clear across town. Rejected. I called into their customer service. The lady kept side stepping the questions then she must have muted her phone possibly trying to get ME to disconnect. I just said that Im not hanging up and this will be going into the review. She disconnected and called back. I asked for a way to go up higher. She wanted my information. I asked if it was necessary for me to give her my info just to get an email address. Yep. I left it there, but here I am.
I guess you cant criticise ring. It’s going in the garbage but not before I let the whole world know about my experience.
There is a privacy advocate that makes videos. He said that ring now puts radios that link you to your neighbors ring regardless if you are on the internet or not. I dont believe it is a feature that gives you any benefit. Im not certain if true, but look into it. Big brother?
By the way, police make fake tear jerker – lying posts on the ring neighborhood app to get you to give them your video. I know this for a fact. Watch out for complaints of bike theft by people that have cancer and their mother died last week and they have no money. It’s possible, but I KNOW it was a fishing scheme to get video. I know people that were involved. There was no theft at all. Love good cops. I hate lying p.o.s. cops.

  17. @AliKo-n5r on May 23, 2025 at 3:56 pm

I didn’t have to buy a ring to sign up for the neighbors app

  18. @javiervh4918 on May 23, 2025 at 3:56 pm

That might’ve been the case back then, I had to buy a subscription to watch videos.

  19. @isdits on May 23, 2025 at 3:59 pm

I’ve learned that these ring battery outdoor cameras are useless. The motion detection range is a joke. It shows you a view of more than you want to see but the area you want the motion detection to kick in is so small that the camera is pointless to have. Someone can get into your house with a camera pointed right at them because the detection area only goes about a foot away from the camera so unless you’re watching the camera 24/7 you will never know what happened. Is there a camera out there with a wider field of motion detection?

    Blink Family, meets, Ring Family…😮

  21. @drlovestech5709 on May 23, 2025 at 4:00 pm

how is Blink subscription free? I am going to buy Blink and I have read on the Blink website that I need a subscription for storage

  24. @ChristineDuffy-m8q on May 23, 2025 at 4:02 pm

I just bought a ring doorbell and I am thinking of taking it back to the shop and changing to blink

  25. @pavila195417 on May 23, 2025 at 4:02 pm

Ring is a better system than blink, please tell me how much is your family and your safety worth?

  26. @gunnerzane5230 on May 23, 2025 at 4:02 pm

Ring is nothing but problems. I hate them.

  27. @DJarvonut on May 23, 2025 at 4:04 pm

Don’t use any subscription based device. They’re usually a scam

  28. @Paige-kn4zr on May 23, 2025 at 4:05 pm

Thanks! I appreciate your video 😁

  29. @Madness915eptx on May 23, 2025 at 4:06 pm

I use my ring doorbell and with a blink outdoor camera facing the door in a different angle… blink saves vids and I get to see live feed with ring doorbell..

    No subscription 🎉🎉🎉

  30. @timyassa4343 on May 23, 2025 at 4:07 pm

when installing ring did you have to add a jumper cable to the chime?
I’ve seen people doing that with blink, but i haven’t had to do that. my doorbell with blink worked fine without the use of jumpers

  31. @shelley_nw on May 23, 2025 at 4:14 pm

What IS a blink doorbell, hundreds of reviews without anyone even explaining what they ARE.

  32. @timyassa4343 on May 23, 2025 at 4:14 pm

The problem with blink is that the app takes sooo long to open, it makes it useless when someone rings the doorbell, by the time you open the app they’re gone. No wonder that have a 2 star review on the app/play store
I’ll be switching to ring soon

  33. @chargerman165 on May 23, 2025 at 4:15 pm

Most all our cameras are Blink including the doorbell. Very happy with them as they are wireless inside and out.

  34. @michaelsherman6492 on May 23, 2025 at 4:15 pm

I use a home link and thumb drive to store my videos locally so I don’t need to pay for a blink subscription.

  35. @DarioACordova on May 23, 2025 at 4:19 pm

Thanks for the video! Sadly I’ve been into the Ring ecosystem for about a year now: :$ wish I saw this video before

  36. @mpybhm on May 23, 2025 at 4:20 pm

You saved my money, thank you!

  37. @insanvini1203 on May 23, 2025 at 4:20 pm

Do you have other security system other than blink? How about door or window sensors?

  38. @Crisian-o1q on May 23, 2025 at 4:21 pm

Blink and Ring are one and the same. Do not be fooled. They’re both owned by Amazon and subscription-based. Yes, Blink has the Sync Module, but you still have to pay to save live videos and for other features.

I had to get rid of my Blink 2nd gen outdoor cameras after a carjacking attempt. The video quality was so bad that I couldn’t make out the crooks. It looked like someone cleaned it with potato juice. I got Eufy’s 2K cameras and have been content.

  39. @misutovi on May 23, 2025 at 4:24 pm

I’ve been looking into this. Thank you for the information!

  40. @InYallFeeling8866 on May 23, 2025 at 4:28 pm

They lying asf. Just don’t go buy a cheap ring bruh. Get those 150$ ring cuz it worth it.

  41. @pazzuto on May 23, 2025 at 4:28 pm

I bought Eufy door bell about 3 years ago for the same reason, no subscription, save to a sd card, but I can opt for their cloud service cheaper than ring if I remember correctly. I never used it since I back up everything to my NAS. the one thing I don’t like is that it does miss events that surprised me it didn’t pick up – like there was someone literally 5 feet from it at my door and it didn’t notify me.

they have a new version that I want to checkout, but after this video, I may checkout Blink. Thanks!

  42. @tyc-o3i on May 23, 2025 at 4:29 pm

    hmm🤔

  43. @ChronoSerum on May 23, 2025 at 4:31 pm

the main downside on Blink for me is that it cannot be accessed from PC

  44. @uncaboat2399 on May 23, 2025 at 4:31 pm

I have read reviews that, altho Blink does have the "Store Videos Locally" feature (at an extra one-time purchase of a separate device), it also constantly tries to Up-Sell you to the Subscription Cloud service. The reviewer took off a point because he thought that was annoying.
Has anybody else had this experience, and felt it was annoying?

  45. @jeannineterese1037 on May 23, 2025 at 4:32 pm

Blink only lets you use 1 doorbell cam without the subscription. Your clips will be blank!

  46. @demetrouse2972 on May 23, 2025 at 4:32 pm

I have ring doorbells and ring cameras. I do like the network because they can let you know when somebody in the area is doing something you can communicate with your neighbors I like that.

  47. @thegrimyeaper on May 23, 2025 at 4:33 pm

"Blink family" and "Ring ecosystem" sounds so creepy to me.

  48. @JCourts2k23 on May 23, 2025 at 4:34 pm

I have two blink outdoor camera cameras, and blink doorbell. I have the
Blink subscription plan, for $10 a month, that covers all three cameras. Had it for going on three years, has worked great. Just wish the cameras had a clearer picture, they can’t even read a license plate clearly

  49. @48th34CountFelon on May 23, 2025 at 4:36 pm

What Idiot Pays for Subscripton FOR A DOOR BELL!!!!!! OMG!!!!
YOU CANT POSSIBLY BE THAT DUMB!!!🤢🤢☠️☠️

  50. @Average_Middle_Aged_American on May 23, 2025 at 4:37 pm

My wired Eufy dual lens doorbell has been nothing but a nightmare.
    Looking for something more reliable.
I am grandfathered in to the $0 blink membership.
