Hi Tatiana. Hoping you can clear up a decision for me. Im on the fence with purchasing the Somnium VR1 for better Horizontal FOV visuals and then buying the MaganeX 8K for Oled visuals, I like both but like to trade off, however this would be expensive. Now with the Pimax Super I could have both as you know they have the swappable optical engines QLED and OLED for a less money, but as with Pimax you never know if your going to get the custmer service and as always with Pimax the Quality Control is just not there. What would you do? Thanks!

  2. @StenWasTaken on January 21, 2025 at 12:28 am

my valve index is clear enough for having fun, the real thing that needs upgrading is FOV

  3. @iskda1585 on January 21, 2025 at 12:31 am

i still want larger fov headsets, higher resolution for sure, but fov first for immersion

  4. @basstradamus1 on January 21, 2025 at 12:32 am

Such fov would require the price of 99$. Otherwise no go. 2025 will bring a lot of great devices, specially H2 so buy popcorn, use quest 3 and wait.

  5. @JaidenStylezTV on January 21, 2025 at 12:34 am

    not buying…the FOV sucks.

  6. @droneforfun5384 on January 21, 2025 at 12:34 am

You need to clearify if this is a sponsored video or not

  7. @mnamnam6061 on January 21, 2025 at 12:34 am

Please do not add resolution per eye to a bigger number, that is completely nonsense but marketing logic. Besides that a very interesting product review, though not my price range, especially as MS just decided to kill my Reverb G1 by throwing out the driver. Bought 4 years before, great condition, dump. Now pay 1900โ‚ฌ? Life has become too expensive, sorry.

  8. @sicedice on January 21, 2025 at 12:35 am

False advertising is a wonderful thing… 4k per eye is not 8k. Just like the jaguar wasn’t 64bit…
No ipd adjustment is useless, as people that are on 65 or more will lose fov, especially with only 100 fov angle, using computer adjustment you will be at 90 probably. This is for small ipd people. Just get a quest3 or Index, this won’t be worth the money for larger heads and ipd.

  9. @captainflowers748 on January 21, 2025 at 12:35 am

Seeing what this offers, the XR Elite is cheaper, but it offers way more then this device. Resolution is good, but XR is inside out, contains multitude of accessories that expands your experience from mouth/eye tracking (Focus does have eye tracking built in), FBT and more. I mention XR cause this is about the size of the device itself, and XR offers more while being cheaper. No one is ever talking about the XR and keeps bringing that beyond thing, XR is such a better device overall for its size and offers so much more.

  10. @ZimCrusher on January 21, 2025 at 12:36 am

I’m looking to upgrade from my Valve Index.
Since MeganeX works with Steam and so does Bigscreen Beyond, those were my 2 top options.
The biggest concern for me with the Index is the weight.

  11. @walley2637 on January 21, 2025 at 12:37 am

i’m guessing that for a smooth experience you will need a top end gaming pc for each eye…

  12. @AlecWyld on January 21, 2025 at 12:40 am

I cannot use a Quest 3 more than 1 hour before my head and neck hurt. This headset is going to allow me to enjoy VR again. I will def pick one up.

  13. @CaptainOverLoad on January 21, 2025 at 12:40 am

if they can release this imagine what the new index can do?

  14. @lala-g1e on January 21, 2025 at 12:41 am

    Bb

  15. @2-da3333 on January 21, 2025 at 12:42 am

It’s not wireless, and it requires two motion sensors to be set on each side. It is also not cheap. So, what is there to like?

  16. @Schwing27 on January 21, 2025 at 12:42 am

I really love your accent. Where are you from?

  17. @kitaistarlight7007 on January 21, 2025 at 12:43 am

VR is still in its infancy. So nowhere near perfection.

    Just a few points:
    – All VR headsets viewing ranges look like you are looking through binoculars. Peripheral vision is pretty much absent. To fully immerse visually, we will need lenses that cover at least a 180-degree field of view. Preferably more (max). Encapsulating the eyes fully from temple to temple with one big screen is where that development might reach perfection. So pretty far away from modern headsets.
    – Passthrough is grainy at best and laggy as f. Unacceptably poor even on the Quest 3. No way passthrough looks anything like your normal vision or the quality you get when viewing an 8k movie. Work to be done.
    – Audio is an imitation of spatial. Not true spatial. 3D audio needs to be developed.
    – Headsets should self-adjust lenses constantly to accommodate for eye spacing, focusing issues, eye tracking, shifting of the headset, and many more things. Hardly any of these features exist yet.
    – VR gaming is a joke. So far none of the content is truly impressive when compared to modern gaming titles that play on a 4K or 8K dedicated monitor or TV.
    – Installing games is iffy with the limited space, and streaming games is another tech infant that needs upgrades for games like shooter multiplayer to be truly playable at competitive levels. Nvidia is going in the right direction. Xbox Ultimate is lagging behind. Fun but limited for now.
    – Battery life is so bad you need to be plugged in pretty much constantly? What?!

Sorry, but the hype needs to be tempered with realistic expectations to prevent people from spending lots of money on what is basically tech in its infancy.

Not saying it isn’t a fun gimmick. It is. But not more than that.
    Enjoy, though.

    Great Video ๐ŸŽ‰โค

  19. @ChrisM541 on January 21, 2025 at 12:44 am

    WARNING !!!
As an Nvidia proxy company, this is yet another company (Varjo is an Nvidia proxy too) that very deliberately shuts out every AMD GPU owner.
Understand that Meta, Valve, HP etc etc have NO problems releasing top HDM’s that work with Nvidia – and – AMD cards out of the box.

  20. @lemontec on January 21, 2025 at 12:45 am

12:47 โ€ža VR headset without compromisesโ€œ what about the compromises you just mentioned?

  21. @rickaron7593 on January 21, 2025 at 12:46 am

Base stations are now a dinasaur concept. There are always companies trying to hang on with a dying technology.

  22. @Liverwatfor on January 21, 2025 at 12:47 am

i hate when people say 8k and its actually just 4k

  23. @Taikaru on January 21, 2025 at 12:47 am

The MeganeX sounds almost exactly what I was looking for to jump into PC VR… Just about the best visuals and able to share. Except apparently it doesn’t work with either AMD GPUs or Linux… both of which I use. So guess my wait for the Index 2 continues!

  24. @RCSky7711 on January 21, 2025 at 12:47 am

Oh wow the way that flips up is Crazy, I’m constantly either taking my Q3 off or looking down thru the nose gap to make sure i’m not going to hit any walls, Flippin it up would be so much better

  25. @wembley636 on January 21, 2025 at 12:49 am

Nah, this is crap, if you have to have it connected to the headset and also have another person hold the to connection, nah your just using you looks to get vids.. Your review is stupid, doesn’t take into account of people wearing glasses.. but what do I know ?

  26. @majorhavoc9693 on January 21, 2025 at 12:50 am

    FOV is everything!
    100 degrees? Nope.
    Next…

  27. @channelvr1293 on January 21, 2025 at 12:51 am

I think that people that buy this HMD already have a previous HMD and the chance is great they already have base stations. Like me.. owning several Vive HMD’S and the Crystal upgrading is easy..

  28. @droneforfun5384 on January 21, 2025 at 12:53 am

FOV is just too small. Dealbreaker

  29. @anthonymoloney3671 on January 21, 2025 at 12:55 am

Thank you for the preview. It sounds interesting and I wish them luck! Can you clarify the pronunciation of the product? Being a Japanese company, "megane" in Japanese means, "glasses". The Japanese word "Megane" would be pronounced something like: "Me" as in "Method", "ga" as in "Garden", "ne" as in "Net", and "X" as the single letter. Not having a go at you, I just know a little Japanese and presumed it would be pronounced as per the Japanese word. Thanks again for the video.

  30. @FutureLaugh on January 21, 2025 at 12:56 am

    $1900 im out

  31. @SirWaffly on January 21, 2025 at 12:57 am

This is a headset for a very specific type of VR user. I would love to have one, but I think it’s normal that most people are not interested.

  32. @rikachiu on January 21, 2025 at 12:57 am

I would pay good money for the same headstrap to use with my apple vision pro. Someone please make it!

  33. @johndzwon1966 on January 21, 2025 at 12:57 am

    OLED burn-in? No thanks.

  34. @Christian-zf7gc on January 21, 2025 at 12:58 am

My least favourite part is the price tbh.

  35. @dragonsnackproductions on January 21, 2025 at 12:58 am

"HATset" XD I remember people mocking me too here in comment when I tried my emglish by saying DK2 DevelopMINT Kit …. 9 years ago []-)

  36. @Dracose on January 21, 2025 at 12:59 am

I cant tell the difference between 1080 p and 8k on a screen thats bigger than those lenses, so why would it be benefitial for 8k on tiny goggles ๐Ÿ˜‚

  37. @GreenBay901 on January 21, 2025 at 1:02 am

Now the question is will it ever actually make it to market and will real people ever actually be able to purchase it. From my understanding, outside of limited models and inside Japan, this company has made a bunch of noise in the VR press while practically delivering nothing.

  38. @plautus-jc8be on January 21, 2025 at 1:03 am

    why u lying tho>?

  39. @plautus-jc8be on January 21, 2025 at 1:04 am

This headset istn worth more than a 100$

  40. @LulzSecvirusinvader on January 21, 2025 at 1:05 am

4K is good enough. Besides, no gpu do 8k.. make better panels, better ppi, ect not more K

  41. @scstudios8 on January 21, 2025 at 1:06 am

You still need Rx lenses if you have astimatism.

  42. @crispyryce3585 on January 21, 2025 at 1:08 am

I really wouldn’t call this the industry standard. $1,899 makes it unviable for probably 95% of the market. I was very happy with my PSVR2 purchase at $350 on sale. I’m pretty sure that’s best value on the market as the oled displays with the eye tracking make it fantastic.

  43. @kingkazuma2568 on January 21, 2025 at 1:13 am

This feels like a cash out…

  44. @happyraptor7986 on January 21, 2025 at 1:14 am

This looks amazing, but it’s still limited by FOV. I need 140 FOV in a small form factor (ie. NOT these Pimax bricks). As soon as Quest or anyone else comes out with:
    1. Small form factor (Quest 3 size or smaller)
    2. 140 degree circular FOV
    3. 8k Resolution
I will happily drop $3-4k on a headset. Until then I’m keeping my money in my pocket.

  45. @Sele81 on January 21, 2025 at 1:15 am

Now we just need a 8090

  46. @buenasondas1147 on January 21, 2025 at 1:16 am

Why is no one talking about the fact that this product can’t be returned or refunded? You better be a person of 100% faith. From their product page, direct quote: "Please note that orders cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded once confirmed."

  47. @dathyr1 on January 21, 2025 at 1:17 am

Well it might be nice, but myself, I can’t afford the price of the headset.
So I will continue to use my Quest 3. It was expensive enough when I bought it.

  48. @alkeryn1700 on January 21, 2025 at 1:23 am

i wish they didn’t add diopter adjustment as i’m gonna need lenses anyway because of astigmatism.

  49. @Darktidejg31 on January 21, 2025 at 1:23 am

There will not be the perfect vr headset for everyone as everyone has different needs or wants in a VR headset. There will always be compromises. For instances lightweight and comfort with high contrast screens are better for me than way more FOV with a big bulky headset. Wireless and pass through cameras may be for others. I love competition and new products that cater to our different wants for VR. If this has a larger sweet spot and less glare than the bigscreen I may be interested. I really want to see what valve comes out with next as they had best audio and built in mic. While inside out tracking is getting better its not up to par with outside in yet.

  50. @talasattila6401 on January 21, 2025 at 1:24 am

2x4K is not 8K, lady. 4x4K is 8K. But since these are simply 2 4 k screens for 2 eyes, you simply have 4k. That’s it. Seeing 2 different 4k screens with two eyes, doesn’t transform them into 8K
