As you can tell from the video, I am REALLY happy with this Meross garage door opener remote and really love the app. I have had this for a couple years now and it is fantastic. I am pretty bitter with myQ still. It is one of the dumbest smart devices I have ever used.

… and I wasn’t listening, because I was looking at your 5-string!
I made the exact same decision/mistake… Now I regret it. The subscription is insane, and the blocking of third party apps is really annoying. The MyQ folks don’t understand what smart homes are about. People want integrated solutions that they can run automations on. It’s outright criminal what they are doing. I will never by anything Chamberlin group makes again for the rest of my life. They deserve to blackballed by the entire smart home community… I also bout the meross opener with contact switch but it doesn’t work on my „smart“ Liftmaster, and I had to order an accessory for it to finish the install, but that’s on the way and should be up and running in a few days. Thanks for the video.
It wasn’t always subscription based. i was an early adopter and it was included. Still, the Google integration was laughable and flaky. According to Chamberlain, it was so bad they discontinued it. Why they did this instead of improving it had me wondering so I did some checking and now see they have a new [read – you have to pay yet again] version out that has Google and even Homekit integration. Like you though, I ditched my MyQ in favor of the Meross and couldn’t be happier. Even the new MyQ still relies on those flaky, battery-powered sensors whereas the Meross has wired, permanent ones.
How did you get the Meross to work with MyQ I have the same setup can’t get the Meross to work with the MyQ, can’t you send me the setup steps please
Great video and solution. They should put a usb C port in backside of unit 👍🤠🇺🇸
Subbed and thumbs upped
0:18 me justifying every smart device (e.g. smart crock pot)
that Meross is garbage too. it never stays connected
Some smart garage door openers have trouble with signals if you have a lot of led lighting in your garage. Led bulbs emit a frequency that can jamb wifi and bluetooth signals.
honestly, Smart security seems…. rife with issues
Make my ancient garage door opener smart, pretty much
I use a relay that I bought off Amazon. Added benefit of being able to make it local-only so no cloud. Goes straight to Home assistant
Yeah, MyQ is junk. Mine works about 75% of the time and is very unreliable. And the Qlink subscription is expensive.
Can it work with POE?
MyQ is a really shtty company. I purchased this garage opener about 6 years ago. It was advertised on LiftMaster as being HomeKit compatible. Turns out this was not the case out the box. I called them out and complained for false advertising and they said they could not do anything as the HomeKit capability was able to be done with a hub that I had to buy separately. The Hub was almost one third the price of the garage opener at 160 bucks. The hub was extremely buggy and only worked 50 percent of the time and it stoped working all together after 3 years. Then, I came across HomeBridge that allowed me to use this device with Apple Home for almost 3 years with ZERO issues! Well, as of October 2023, MyQ blocked all third parties from accessing their API and the HomeBridge capabilities broke. On top of this, MyQ discontinued the HomeKit Hub all together so now this garage door opener might as well be paper weight.
Not What I Expected – CarPlay Integration Is Misleading
I bought the Meross MSG100 hoping to control my garage door directly from my CarPlay screen, as their marketing suggests. Unfortunately, that turned out to be very misleading. There is no way to create a button on the CarPlay screen to open or close the garage.
The only option is to use Siri voice commands from the car, but even that comes with a big limitation: Siri won’t actually open the garage unless the car is completely stopped. In real-world use, this defeats the purpose — by the time you’re parked, it’s much easier to just grab the remote.
Installation was easy and the app works fine on the phone, but the CarPlay functionality is basically nonexistent, at least the way it’s presented. I wish the advertising were more honest about what this device can and can’t do.
The myQ app is so limited.
Yep, can wait for someone to say open garage door from outside when your inside
Having Alexa open your door is stupid
“Morose” is the least flattering pronunciation of Meross I have heard yet
why is my garage door is not moving when i put a jumper wire between white n red push button wires? it is preventing me to install any wireless closers, any ideas ?
My garage head unit has a common an open door and a close door input so 3 wires how can I make it work with just 2 I can’t right
I was never a huge fan of the MyQ system and the biggest problem is that it’s proprietary AND Chamberlin makes something like 90% of the garage door openers out there. The Tuya solution isn’t perfect but at $30 was much better bang for my buck.
Did you get the msg100 or msg100 w/HomeKit?
Do you need any extra devices to use it with Siri?
seens a bit of a pain, cant go wrong with traditional manual garage doors, panel, spring assist or roller
I just ordered the Meross, after frustrating hours trying to make myQ work, seems like a better option we’ll see.
Monthly subscription for garage door hahahahahaha
Is this the guy from Jersey Shore?
IOT is dumb. Garbage and security problems across the board. You want devices that do their one function as best as possible and then route their controls separately to your automation platform of your choice.
