I compare the new T9 to the T7 and T7 Shield, as well as test the performance of the drive and tell you why you may not see all the benefits on your Mac.

I hate how fast technology moves. Bought my t7 2 years ago for $120 and now the t9 is out and is twice as fast as my t7 for only $110 lmao. I feel scammed.

  21. @XtianApi on December 31, 2024 at 6:37 pm

right now, the t9 is 47 percent off! Same price as the t7 shield

  22. @andersedman0511 on December 31, 2024 at 6:40 pm

Haha, just bought a T7 and didn’t even realise teh T9 excistedπŸ˜‚. However, I’m only using the drive casually and the tranfser speed is still sufficiet :).

  23. @Rob_G66 on December 31, 2024 at 6:40 pm

I reformatted the drive as NTFS because I’m only ever using it with windows machines and this also allows for TRIM support. Transfer speeds were also quite poor with the factory exFat partitioning. Transfers are faster with NTFS, but still a bit erratic and may still show slowdown after a while. So, why even bother with this drive unless you’re getting it cheap on sale? An nvme or standard SSD in an external enclosure is probably going to perform far better and more consistently.

  24. @jmhtv2040 on December 31, 2024 at 6:40 pm

How do they double the storage in the same size case?

  25. @theillusionzone on December 31, 2024 at 6:41 pm

@AppleInsider Great video, thanks for the info! I’m considering this T9 over the T7 due to the 2K read/write speeds, do the faster read/write speeds allow watching movies directly off the external ssd to be more efficient? (when plugged into a USB C 3.2 gen 2×2 port).

  26. @chetudeveloper on December 31, 2024 at 6:43 pm

Why dont you show real time speed πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  27. @brandonwatsonmedia on December 31, 2024 at 6:43 pm

Ok Andrew, that was a sweet transition at 1:06. πŸ™‚

  29. @iZacq on December 31, 2024 at 6:44 pm

Time. 2:11. When will we get the one with ip68 rating for T9
    In 2025 or 26 ❓️

  30. @maxparkinson on December 31, 2024 at 6:45 pm

great effect at 1:09 lol didn’t expect that

  31. @zaryl2k on December 31, 2024 at 6:47 pm

does T9 heats up badly after extensive use? maybe copying large amount of files amounting to ~200GB or more?

  32. @toddgilmore118 on December 31, 2024 at 6:48 pm

lol, I use my Seagate 7200 RPM HDD drive 2Tb for everything!! Runs cool, quiet, never fails, and doesn’t have those notorious TBW crap!! My Wife first used the same drive I’m using for 1 year, then I used it for 2 years, then she took it back for 6 months! Now, I using it again with Windows 10 and 5 or 6 games like Sunken Land, Half Life, Diablo, GTA, C&C, and more…never had any issues with performance playing anything or cache, or booting! why pay double for a less dependable SSD

  33. @pablosoto2457 on December 31, 2024 at 6:50 pm

I just bought the Samsung portable SSD T9. I need to transfer my google photos onto it, any tips?

  34. @guocity on December 31, 2024 at 6:52 pm

How is the power efficiency? Does it drain battery not in use?

  35. @adeepoberoi1130 on December 31, 2024 at 6:52 pm

great info. I am wondering if there is a same difference when editing or color grading in premiere or davinci resolve. I mean direct from the disk. Will both perform the same speed? When editing or grading RAW footage you can easily go over 50 gb working direct from the drive?

  36. @Run-n-Gun on December 31, 2024 at 6:55 pm

Dude, SUPER HELPFUL! upgrading from my T5. Which I use as a working drive to edit photos and video. seeing you transfer 160GB in under 3 minutes is crazy!

this has sold me on the T9 over T7…time to speed up workflow! gonna get the 2TB, used to only 1TB working drive to I can store more and ready to shoot more 4k files!

Great video, was not bored, great visuals and info. Awesome work my man! Thank you πŸ΄β€β˜

  37. @07SATS on December 31, 2024 at 6:56 pm

    Does iphone 15 Pro Detect T9 4TB ???

  38. @Wunderkinddd on December 31, 2024 at 6:56 pm

will it have improved with the new m4 pro mac?

  39. @danielchamorro76 on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

It comes with EXFAT and the samsung software. It gets 1000 MB per second, not 2000 MB. Is there any limitation in my macbook pro 16 M1 MAX for getting the Max speed? Im using the cable of the drive.

  40. @Run-n-Gun on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

Question: does the larger cache only come with the 4TB version? id like the 2TB, does this still have a larger cache or no, compared to the T7! Thanks

  41. @viliusr.8792 on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

Any idea if this works with smart TV 1A USB?

  42. @RomboutVersluijs on December 31, 2024 at 6:58 pm

When you made the note about the usbA cable, you also should have noted that not every type c port is the same neither. A user should first check what type c and gen it is before waisitng money on a drive which will never get to that speed on day your laptop

  43. @Free_speech_is_dead on December 31, 2024 at 7:00 pm

I have a T5 that just got corrupted and turned RAW.
Considering getting T9, but the T7 is super cheap now on Black Week, so not sure if I should go for T7 or T9.
Btw, these SSDs tend to come with exFAT out of the box. I’ve heard its recommended to reformat before use into NTFS filesystem. What do you think?

  44. @jadamane on December 31, 2024 at 7:00 pm

And use a magbak wallet too hold the t9 in since it can hold a t7 just may have too squeeze the t9 in and stretch the leather

  45. @iZacq on December 31, 2024 at 7:03 pm

    Time 3:23 Good idea 😊

  46. @AppleInsider on December 31, 2024 at 7:07 pm
  47. @Mr.HiBuddy on December 31, 2024 at 7:08 pm

Is the input watts same for 1, 2 and 4TB? What is the input watts? I guess iPhone 15 pro max is best suited for ssd since it has bigger battery. 15 plus will also do, but of no use since no 4K pro raw no body is gonna need T7.

  48. @mudbander8232 on December 31, 2024 at 7:09 pm

Can i use this ssd to handheld pc like rog ally

  49. @Mangold108 on December 31, 2024 at 7:09 pm
