I do belive that sony is making one, there’s just all the good reasons to make one:
-Handheld pc market dominated by the steamdeck and the ROG Ally and more to come;
-Switch outsolding the ps2 in america;
-Xbox joining the competition.
If Sony finds a way to make it play my phisical ps4 games and gives it eccelent exclusives then I would buy it. I would be dissappointed if they would NOT do it
I realy think we are losing the whole idea of "portables" though…i miss the days of being able to toss my games in my pockets and go on about my day. Switch lite is the closests modern thing to that and it barely fits
Sony hasn’t had bad luck with portables in the past. The psp was a huge success. The Vita sold well also, even with sony abandoning it almost immediately.
PS5 portable is doing good actually but I believe that what the current portable is doing what they are doing with it is they are testing out the cloud to see how not only how we would react but so then they can take notes and see what they’re going to do with the ps6 portable when it comes out in 2 years
A portable that you can use any game you have on your playation would be cool but games with disks would be very aanoyong because you wouldnt be able to play it mabey if you have the game in your PlayStation you can olay it but whats the point in that unless its stilk playable when you plug it out only way i could see that happening is if the disks like a key to olay it mabeu they just let you use all your gamess even if its disks but lets be real that aint happening

Sony’s route to success is easy to understand. The console isn’t what sells itself. ITS THE GAMES. The biggest issue with the PSP was that all the games were shitty versions of already established PlayStation games. Tony Hawks Pro Skater on PSP was fucking dogshit. I know, because I have the fucking PSP and the stupid diskette thing you pop in to play the game. Not to mention hand cramps. I didn’t buy the VITA because I was worried about games. And once again they released the VITA with basically no good games.
The answer is simple, GAMES sell your console. AND IF I WERE SONY?!?!? I know exactly what I would do. I would for one double down on Astro Bot. That game was fucking wicked fun. I would create Astro Bot games for the handheld. Maybe and "Astro Brothers" combat game to go against Smash Bros. "Astro Racing" to combat against Mario Kart, but also stealing from Diddy Kong racing with the Story mode. I mean who wouldn’t want a Story Mode like Diddy Kong Racing. That game was stupid fun. Don’t get me started on the PvP aspect (balloon popping mode in little arena’s). Racing with my brother in coop story mode was fun. And maybe an Mario like game for Astro Bot where you run around maps and unlock shit, collecting coins, and so on. I mean they could also just tap spyro for that meme but still. Can’t forget about Astro Party, a board game rip off of mario party but Sony flare. I would play it, especially if there was an online mode to play with friends anywhere in the world via internet….
BUT I WOULD GO BEYOND THAT. Azure Dreams. This dungeon crawler, monster collector/breeder game, city leveling and light dating sim game…. it was stupid fun. A new version would be awesome. Legacy of Cain. Why hasn’t there been a modern Legacy of Cain. I LOVED Legacy of Cain Blood Omen. Sadly I didn’t play the later versions but I am sure I would have fun with them if a modern version dropped. Not some shitty remake either, im talking actual new games based on these "universes". DARK CLOUD. One of my absolute favorite PS2 games. A new version of that? Orgasmic. A dungeon delving, weapon leveling and evolving, city building game. I mean with how modern games get "expansions" they could make the base game, and later sell expansions! These old games are setup for growing over time and they just, dont. A new monster rancher. Yeah I said it. We need a modern take on monster rancher. Fight me. Final Fantasy Tactics, a true successor, not that Triangle Strategy shit that was a watered down and easy that I wanted to rip my fucking hair out. The story was shit, the gameplay was shit. A proper Tactics successor would be amazing. Imagine the online play vs friends or co-op story modes? A proper handheld with wifi internet? think about it…. A new Wild Arms game, a new Xenogears game. There are so many classic PS1/PS2 titles that never really saw the light of day outside their generation. Hell I would even play a modern version of Intelligent cube, call it "intelligent cube, hypercube" and have it be more than a round based game but more "exploring some craze cube structure" puzzle game. Seriously, how many of your FAVORITE ps1/ps2 games never saw the life of day outside of those old consoles that you KNOW would be fun as shit in a modern take? Twisted Metal? hell yeah. Vagrant Story, Silent Hill, CHRONO TRIGGER AND A NEW CHRONO CROSS. WHO WOULDN’T PLAY THEM?!?!? TRUE SEQUELS TO EACH!!!! A new castlevania game…. Klonoa! FUCKING DRIVER!!!! Imagine a modern Driver that rips off a but of grant theft auto but focuses on driving and getting away. with two modes, a criminal mode and a cop mode…. rayman? syphon filter? ridge racer. time crisis. wipeout. grand turismo. baldurs gate dark alliance? amazing game. kinda dead as a genre. dynasty warriors? gauntlet? need for speed underground….. how many of these games were amazing and were ruined by newer versions or never got adopted into the modern world? GAMES SELL CONSOLES. make a handheld with amazing games, sell insane amounts of consoles. the whole reason nintendo sells is their games. mario party, smash brothers, mario itself, donkey kong, zelda. imagine a new elden ring/souls game but on their new handheld. helping sell the console? that’s how you profit. I DONT own a ps5, but i would buy a playstation handheld…. you can still do crossover games, where its both on handheld and ps5/ps6…. but just be smart about it. that’s how you win a console war.
