I Tried a Non-Invasive Blood Sugar Watch. Miracle or Scam?

I tested 3 non-invasive blood glucose monitoring watches. I compared the blood sugar readings from the watch to the readings from my blood sugar meter and my Dexcom CGM. Do these non-invasive CGM watches really work?

Maybe another couple years a watch with accessories can do a detailed health report. Imagine connecting an ultrasound wand and tells you how and where to place it. P

The science is already there: BG level can be extracted optically using certain wavelength of light. Red and green LED have been widely used in wearables to measure blood oxygen and heart rate. However, the particular wavelength to detect BG is very difficult to achieve, whether using LED or laser diode. You can be sure all wearable manufacturers are working day and night trying to make it. Look at the market of CGM, this market will be absolutely huge if such a light source can be successfully made. This is the next Holy Grail in the wearable devices. As of today (2025/05/16), I am pretty certain all these non-invasive BG monitors are bogus.

I brought the first watch and liked the watch. It also does blood pressure. What I did not like about the watch is the body of watch is plastic and broke at the band pins which are metal. Now I will try glue to keep band pin in place so watch can be worn.

What I realized hear is that the skin takes longer than the blood stream
If you took another test letter it would collaborate with the reading before

  19. @phils644 on June 5, 2025 at 5:05 pm

What about the watches that measure blood pressure? More accurate or also garbage?

  20. @briank2434 on June 5, 2025 at 5:06 pm

seems that they are doing backwards on the readings ..

    IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Please be careful whenever you see commercials for non-invasive blood glucose monitoring watches. Not all these are sold only on Amazon.
After filming this video, I discovered several more models advertised heavily on Facebook. These commercials are often using video footage stolen from diabetes influencers with AI generated voiceover. I’m 99% sure these are all trash!
Please share this video with your diabetic friends, especially with those who are more vulnerable and more likely to fall for these. Thank you for your help!

  26. @dallasstang2818 on June 5, 2025 at 5:14 pm

Not enough testing. Let’s say the watches read at a delayed rate for some reason. You need to keep the sugar level steadily at a low, good and high level for a sustained period. And then run multiple tests at each level to see if there are fluctuations.

The first test when your level was 110 or so was likely kept that level for a while before the watches were used. That could be a reason for all the devices reading relatively close.

You drank the smoothie and then tested it. Now it reads off because it was too quick to test using the watch. Lights can’t really detect sugar molecules but perhaps it can test some effects of sugar in the blood or skin only after a period of time.

You should do multiple tests in a span of 15-30 minutes to truly rule out more factors.

Not saying these watches work but just that the data set aren’t anywhere near useful. As you have stated, even wearing the watch differently in terms of tension may affect the results.

That’s why you should wear one watch for one round of low, good and high readings. And then do another watch at a different day or time.

  27. @rickcrammond6330 on June 5, 2025 at 5:15 pm

I wonder why you can’t buy a blood sugar watch on Amazon?

  28. @connietorres3887 on June 5, 2025 at 5:16 pm

Thank you so much! I’ve been looking at these watches and hoping one would be developed that actually works. We can only hope science and technology can make a breakthrough.

  29. @baljitrattu7747 on June 5, 2025 at 5:17 pm

I tried these and they are not accurate at all. Waste of money. Scam

  31. @geogeo1261 on June 5, 2025 at 5:19 pm

The people must understand that for clear technical reasons, it’s impossible to have a reliable measurement of Glucose with electronic watches. This is totally bullshit. All these watches have an algorithm with pre-adjusted values depending the hour of the day which is common for the healthy people. Only by luck can show correct measurement . It’s a dangerous fraud for someone with wrong glucose. The only reliable method is with blood sample.

  32. @KingScorpio84 on June 5, 2025 at 5:21 pm

so you have to ad on average 12% to the watch value to get the values of the invasive indicators

I wonder what exactly these are measuring. Their readings are consistent with each other, so they must be measuring something?

  42. @reinerwilhelms-tricarico344 on June 5, 2025 at 5:31 pm

This is an example for why the FDA must be saved from the current DOGE rush. FDA may be captured by big pharma, but so far the smart watch industry hasn’t completely taken control. Recently in 2024, the FDA made an explicit warning about all commercially available none-invasive blood glucose measuring devices: don’t buy them.

  43. @emiolaomotayo7497 on June 5, 2025 at 5:31 pm

    This was very helpful

  44. @kinder17laughs on June 5, 2025 at 5:34 pm

Without actually having blood you can not measure true blood sugar levels…even with cgms like dexcom its not 100%, but this seems like a scam to me

  45. @Nap9340 on June 5, 2025 at 5:34 pm

Very thorough video. Have you heard of or come across a non-invasive glucose meter (looks like an oximeter) named Laozik? They claim to have 99% accuracy and that they are FDA approved.

I had tried another one I found on social media a few months ago but they ended up sending me just an oximeter… luckily I was able to get a refund by PayPal

  46. @deborahharris8745 on June 5, 2025 at 5:41 pm

So glad I watched your video before purchasing a watch or oximeter, with glucose monitoring too! Yes, it’s a scam. 😮
