Cable management to surround should have been mentioned.

  2. @ArchStanton19966 on December 31, 2024 at 6:06 pm

Subscribed! Great video, thanks Andrew. I’m new to all this and will be setting up a home theater soon. Can I ask what you would consider the minimum gauge of speaker wire recommended for a home theater?
    Thank you.

  3. @mehrabshah69 on December 31, 2024 at 6:10 pm

Excellent. Good explanation to figure out the way how home theatre works

  4. @juvejuve1778 on December 31, 2024 at 6:13 pm

Can I use a soundbar with built in subwoofer as a center speaker? And must I use 5 speakers for it to function properly? Asking because I don’t have enough room to place two surround speakers, so I might just go with only one. Thanks!

  5. @CalebUmansky on December 31, 2024 at 6:13 pm

Hi. Great video. This is a wall mounted tv so how do you hide the cables that run from the bottom centre of tv down the wall. Thank you.

  10. @carriehinze6367 on December 31, 2024 at 6:18 pm

what if I don’t have a smart tv but I have the HDMI and all the hook ups on the back of my tv. I’m not getting any sound or anything out of my 5.1 surround sound

    Excellent video.

  12. @edwinrijos6679 on December 31, 2024 at 6:20 pm

Wait just watching this video got me confused. I notice you set the crossover on this sub to 80hz and in your older sub videos you said to put it to LFE are those 2 different knobs? I see on the one you said to set to LFE it says Low pass filter.

  13. @sterlingcampbell2116 on December 31, 2024 at 6:21 pm

Excellent video apart from not knowing how to pronounce "subwoofer"

    What about the cable box

  16. @HardcoreGamer101508 on December 31, 2024 at 6:26 pm

How do you connect the mounted speakers? Is there a cord that’s drilled behind the walls or something? Didn’t explain how that works

  17. @PINOYEMPOWERPLUS on December 31, 2024 at 6:26 pm

    Great infomation.

  18. @psreinc on December 31, 2024 at 6:26 pm

Can you use in ceiling speakers for both the surrounds and the atmos? How would you place them?

  19. @kimlarson-lm9tx on December 31, 2024 at 6:27 pm

This surround sound five speaker set is $500, not $200. How can the price go up $300 on something that’s three years old and outdated?

  20. @mikemasters11 on December 31, 2024 at 6:29 pm

so i need a home theater system + a av receiver + a subwoofer + a lot of cables. running through the numbers in my head and it gets pretty expensive pretty fast.

    The Trilogy.

  22. @Buzza235 on December 31, 2024 at 6:31 pm

For a 5.1 setup would it be necessary to get a amplifier as well as your av receiver.

  23. @1746jr2422190 on December 31, 2024 at 6:31 pm

I just purchased an Onkyo HT-S 3910. is that a good system? I’m looking for the sound of a theater and for it to sound crisp.

  24. @tyrannicalhavoc7976 on December 31, 2024 at 6:34 pm

Surround speakers in a 5.1 DO NOT go directly to the side of the listening position…they go behind and to the side

    This is via Dolby themselves

  25. @mahoro5437 on December 31, 2024 at 6:34 pm

    Amazing video 🙏🏽🙌🏾❤️ thanks!

  26. @Superfly1503 on December 31, 2024 at 6:36 pm

I know this is an old video but just for information the Jamo s803 set up here is currently retailing for $1958 in Australia via Amazon. I know inflation has hit hard but this is extortionate!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What’s your favorite home theater system? What movie do you recommend for home theater testing?

My system speakers seem to be set at a lower level than needed?
Can I adjust these speakers with my remote?

  30. @FetterMuncher666 on December 31, 2024 at 6:41 pm

Your surrounds look very high up

  31. @Dennis-tu5gw on December 31, 2024 at 6:42 pm

Great Explanation…apart from getting a 5.1 system, we now have a Bose Acoustimass and subwoofer system hooked up with the Smart TV and receiver with 2 cube speakers hearby. It’s a great sound. But we are seniors and would like to add 2 more cube Bose speakers if possible to place them near our sitting area. Not sure if this is possible…also would entertain other speaker products, but would really like to just enhance what equipment we have now. Should I call in a professional?

  32. @1945ish on December 31, 2024 at 6:42 pm

You just saved me. Thanks so much. I was going crazy. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why my speakers didnt work.

  33. @WolfgangBrozart on December 31, 2024 at 6:43 pm

Just set your speakers to smalls and use LFE only, DO NOT use LFE+Main, this will duplicate the bass frequencies to your mains and sub, which is not great.

  34. @Bilt4Peter on December 31, 2024 at 6:44 pm

Great video, very informative… thank you

  35. @kolbybrown3098 on December 31, 2024 at 6:44 pm

  39. @ArchStanton19966 on December 31, 2024 at 6:50 pm

Hi Andrew, newbie here and newly subscribed! Thanks for your video, I followed it step by step in hooking up my system. I have one question about something I didn’t see mentioned in the video. Sorry if it’s a dumb question, as I said, I’m new. Does the LAN cable go to the receiver (mine is marked "Network") or does it go to the TV?
    Thanks very much.

  40. @CharlesBronson777 on December 31, 2024 at 6:51 pm

  43. @navinseeruttun9893 on December 31, 2024 at 6:55 pm

Awesome video. I enjoyed every bit of you very clear explanations. I am new in home theatre setup and i have learnt a lot from you.

  44. @anthonyherrera4897 on December 31, 2024 at 6:56 pm

I’m going to watch Avatar (jungle noises) or Jurassic Park

  45. @mazfgit on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

This is a really solid video overall I only have a couple of additions I’d recommend if this were to be every remade.

    1. If you have a modern AV receiver with an auto EQ software but you prefer to still manually setup the speakers. Run it 1 time and record the distances it measures. When you manually complete the setup you can input the exact to the cm distances for each speaker.

    2. In terms of cross over, I in my personal experience, have never come across an auto EQ software that recognises the crossover frequency correctly. Satellite speakers are notorious for getting way out of line. I have dealt with Cambridge Audio Minx Min22’s that any receiver I ran them through refused to put them below 200hz. Cambridge Audio themselves recommend a power level 140hz. To remedy this I started to use Chesky Records Stereo Surround Setup from 1997. In the CD (or more likely digital copy) it has a short section with a voice and tone running down from 250hz to 50hz. When running this at an appriopriate level, listen for when the sound takes an extreme nose dive in volume and clarity. Right at that read out is the cross over that a speaker sits at.

For everyone out there running really low end setups that don’t come with documentation or you have speakers that you don’t know anything about – follow this video but supplement in the 2nd point to nail the cross over frequency. I guarantee they will feel like brand new speakers.

  46. @reesebroekhoven3962 on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

Wait wait WAIT …. I think I really messed up, you said at the end congratulations you just successfully installed your first 5.1 surround theatre system in your living room. Mines in my washroom is this ok? I did it for my wife to watch a movie when she takes a bath

  47. @lucy7594 on December 31, 2024 at 6:58 pm

I bought the jamo because of this video so thanks so much ❤

  48. @darefishman on December 31, 2024 at 6:58 pm

I think the SpongeBob movie has HDR and 7.1 😂

  49. @crunchie101 on December 31, 2024 at 6:58 pm

One note about the 1510 vs 1509 is that the 1510 supports eARC, so audio coming from the TV will be losslessly sent to the AVR

  50. @Allan-x3k on December 31, 2024 at 7:02 pm

I’m getting 5.1 with Q Acoustics 3010i with Marantz CINEMA 70S I’m going to keep looking back on this as reading the manual let’s say hard for me to follow. Seeing how you do it on here really helps me to understand thank you
