I thought my cheap Decathlon strap was not working anymore. I didn’t know the water thing with the sensors. I just swiped the sensors with a damp washcloth and now it works! Thank you!

the problem with watch is now I can’t easily take off my arm warmer lol

  4. @phuccaoo on December 31, 2024 at 6:07 pm

With a chest strap and a phone, I’ll need to constantly taking my phone out… any suggestion?

  5. @miravlix on December 31, 2024 at 6:08 pm

Talking about accuracy without talking about how accurate you need it to be… Not good… Just because I know down to the hardware level how the bits move around in a computer, doesn’t mean you need to know that to use a computer.

I hear good things about the Polar H10, I’m thinking about getting one and pairing it to my Apple Watch.

  7. @nearbeer2 on December 31, 2024 at 6:08 pm

Minor correction, I think. At about the 3 minutes mark – Apple devices do not support ANT+ “natively” are more readily compatible with Bluetooth LE, as opposed to the ANT+ type of wireless signal.

And many Android devices support ANT+ “natively” but should also have Bluetooth LE compatibility as well.

What do you think of arm bands? I know not as good as chest strap, but is it better than wrist?

  9. @johnyracercat on December 31, 2024 at 6:11 pm

I noticed today the heart rate monitor on my stair climber is way off. It will say 140-150 when it’s actually 115-120.

  10. @20lovefororeos12 on December 31, 2024 at 6:11 pm

Didn’t know I needed to wear a sports bra with mine 🤔

  11. @ggzii on December 31, 2024 at 6:12 pm

The question I want to ask is, what watch should I buy to display the heartate of my chest strap. I dont want to buy an expensive apple watch JUST to display my reading in real time with a beep if I go iver

  12. @wildrfitness on December 31, 2024 at 6:15 pm

UPDATE ON APPLE -> A CONVERTER IS NEEDED FOR THE ANT+ and the apple phone at last check and Apple hsa Bluetooth low energy now. I will be doing a video update soon! Thanks for your understanding

Super clear and succinct … thank you

  14. @John-ev3rm on December 31, 2024 at 6:17 pm

Sounds like the wrist band is actually measuring pulse which can be entirely different than heart rate depending on the person’s fitness and other health factors.

  15. @egibbons69 on December 31, 2024 at 6:17 pm

Wow. Perhaps the best ever Youtube "how to" anything I’ve ever watched. Covers what you want to do, how you might want to do it, AND most importantly a complete explanation of they why, in this case the difference between the underlying tech on HRS vs HR sports watch depends on physiology, which is kinda the point. HRS monitor on phone, HRS monitor on dedicated sports watch. Been using Polar HRS with phone app, which obviously is PITA when you are on the go, Especially when using for hiking, like in phone unfriendly environments like a driving rain. OTA hand being an older (66) , uh hi BMI like 33 and undertrained I need a 99% + accurate BPM when I’m crawling up the last of that 800ft climb. Just got a Garmin inspire, understood that some BPM variability. Used for first time last night on a stair climber and spent more time trying to comprehend the quantitative and time-lag differences between G and Polar HRS/Phone than I actually did on the activity, which involved a lot of sweat and blood flow. So thank you for that. Awesome. Now over to AMAZON to order the , wallah, Garmin HRS. 😄🤔. I will be back to check out rest of channel, as noted need training for hiking. Best

  18. @MarufoVega on December 31, 2024 at 6:18 pm

I never could keep the modern chest straps in working order. Clean them regularly and the break, seldom clean and they apparently short circuit. Went with the smart watch with a broadcast HR function. Works well.

Have a older Apple Watch series 4 finding it not to be accurate. Have a new Garmin find it giving at least give immediate feedback and seems to work fine.

  24. @secession77 on December 31, 2024 at 6:25 pm

The biggest advantage of chest straps is that the battery lasts for 2 years – it’s a clear win for me

  25. @ndelattr on December 31, 2024 at 6:26 pm

Hi (3:00) – Not sure that Apple Watch is supporting Ant+ (as it is a protocol developed by Garmin). I would say that Android and Apple are supporting Bluetooth strap. Garmin watches are compatible with both bluetooth and Ant+.

  26. @g4rymw110 on December 31, 2024 at 6:27 pm

I have a Garmin 245 , do you turn off wrist based heart rate in the settings if using the HRM dual strap , or do you just pair it and it takes the reading from that, it means both wrist and strap would be connected so which one would it display or as mentioned before do you turn off wrist hr

  27. @williamkterrell on December 31, 2024 at 6:32 pm

Chest strap only really accurate way to train, Thanks for your review. Unfortunately wrist based heart rate monitors are still very inaccurate, via the 6X Pro. Complete difference from wrist vs when I put my Chest strap on.

  28. @Chiyuo on December 31, 2024 at 6:35 pm

I never get accurate hr readings no matter whether I’m using strap or my Garmin forerunner. They always read way too high. E.g I was running for 2hrs at 5:34min/km pace and I was able to speak in full sentences with my husband . My heart rate monitors read that my hr was around 170-180 per min. Yesterday when I was resting between weightlifting sets my hr strap read that my pulse was 124 per min and in reality it was around 70-75 when I checked it manually. This is beyond frustrating since I’m trying to follow a training plan for a half marathon.

  29. @peterhassett2516 on December 31, 2024 at 6:36 pm

thanks for clarifying this. I bought the strap and the watch and was thinking the strap was pointless, but now I understand. 🙂

  30. @drainsalleh on December 31, 2024 at 6:40 pm

    Very nice video.. thank you

  31. @korelly on December 31, 2024 at 6:41 pm

The chest strap can slip down, but women can wear it under their bra. For men, the sweat can prevent it to slip down. But we have to tight the strap enough, and it is not very comfortable. But more accurate than the wrist sensor.

  35. @januszmarcinguszak201 on December 31, 2024 at 6:46 pm

Use the finger, find your pulse..15sec and multiple by 4.

  36. @thatbf1nub692 on December 31, 2024 at 6:46 pm

This is really helpful! I’ve got a garmin watch so if I buy a strap not from garmin I’ll have to take my phone with me on runs to read my HR since it won’t come up on my watch?

  37. @giob5221 on December 31, 2024 at 6:51 pm

    Yb better

  38. @condesabeatriz9303 on December 31, 2024 at 6:52 pm

Thanks for this video! I was searching for a video from a woman’s perspective. As I have a large chest, I was wondering how this would work. I appreciate your detailed info.

  39. @9daniele964 on December 31, 2024 at 6:52 pm

I have the fenix 7 pro (elevate 5), I’m checking it together with the band with the auxiliary heart rate app… the precision is impressive, even during repetitions. I tried to do an extreme test (repeated short uphill runs for 20 seconds at maximum), it performed well there too

  40. @Pzapza on December 31, 2024 at 6:53 pm

Informative and to the point video. Thank you.

  41. @neloyislam4002 on December 31, 2024 at 6:53 pm

Good to know u spit yourself

  42. @peterhoppener6678 on December 31, 2024 at 6:54 pm

If I use a strap and my garmin watch the watch is dominating and my Zwift/Garmin statistics show the (too low!) heartrate of my watch. It is a huge underestimate: 110 instead of 150 ! For cycling I can leave my watch at home, but for running I bought this watch. How can I stop the heartbeatmonitoring of my watch and get my watch to show the number of my strap?

  43. @hambernat6444 on December 31, 2024 at 6:56 pm

Watches are completely useless for activities, they far from accurate. Measuring HR from wrist when active is messy and limb’s movements also affect blood pressure, what smartwatch can misinterpret as heart beat.

  44. @nehaljoshi on December 31, 2024 at 6:57 pm

    Precise information, thanks 👍

  45. @eduardoaguilera37 on December 31, 2024 at 6:58 pm

that’s what she said literally lol @2:11

  46. @LK-bz9sk on December 31, 2024 at 6:59 pm

If you are the proud owner of a Galaxy 4 watch, get yourself a chest strap monitor because the watch HR latency is a real problem

  47. @oedothorax on December 31, 2024 at 6:59 pm

The video is interesting but, for me, not very useful. My Garmin watch gives widely varying heart readings so I’m thinking of buying a chest strap. But I want to know about connectivity. If you run and have a chest strap monitor do you have to take your smartphone along to see your heart rate or can you download on to your smartphone after the run, like I do with my watch? When you say the Garmin chest strap and watch ‘talk to each other’ what exactly does that mean?

  48. @danpro68 on December 31, 2024 at 7:00 pm
