If you turn on developer mode and run Quest Game Optimizer (QGO), you can tweak all kinds of settings for the Quest 3 to improve battery life *_or_* beef-up the performance of the CPU and GPU by overclocking.
Should have waited to get the 3s, I got a 2 about 2ish years ago. Don’t get me wrong I love swinging a lightsaber in best saber, messing around in VR chat (cards against humanity is my favorite game in VR chat) and I have the pcvr cable for the quest. I was really jealous when the 3 had pass through camera for augmented VR…. Though with the uncertainty on the market right now I may have to wait until the quest 4s is on sale before I get a new headset.😅
Last Christmas, I unironicly gifted my brother the Original Oculus Quest 1. Its a solid wireless PCVR headset with delightful OLED colors. (Also was very cheap to get second hand) The only drawback is that controller replacements cost more than the headset itself
Me personally, whether the quest two or the quest 2S gets cheaper I wouldn’t buy it. Yes the wire is a dealbreaker on the meta-quest three but it just looks better instead, instead of having three cameras on the side of the bottom, but I guess that’s my personal preference and Apple is just ridiculously expensive.
I just bought the Vlve Index and got it yesterday, and i have to say it is incredible. The controls are simple but decent and the visuals are clear and not at all blurry like I had to deal with for my HTC Vive. The wire isn’t a downgrade at all because with that I don’t have to worry about headset battery life AND it assures that the computer is what needs to focus on processing power which in terms of MY PC is pretty damn good so I get a decent headset with controllers that can last on a single charge for 4+ hours and it sues SteamVR which knowing steam means plenty of games on sale and a lot of them for no reason other than because steam likes putting things on sale. So price is not at all an issue.
The bigscreen beyond v2 is the actual best one. It has two micro oled screens, can have custom glasses, a halostrap, a headset attachment and all for about a whopping 2k
Literally nobody likes apple for the price yeah there are still people that are somehow getting mortgages in order to get the new Apple product and I don’t know how they have not filed bankruptcy on their own homes

my ipd is wide, so a visual downgrade is nothing
Still got an oculus rift S. Its a bit kranky like an old grandpa but it still does its job… might switch it to a 3s tho😂
