The Oakley Pursuit Ultra cap may be the best backpacking product on the market at $40 or less. The number one benefit is how well it grips your head. I walk Miami Beach a lot, and when I wear snap-back hats, the wind has the tendency to knock the hat off my head, regardless of how tight I fasten the snap-back clips. The innovative elastic band closure on the Pursuit solves the problem of losing your hat due to wind gusts. 

It retails for $40 but I was able to purchase for $20 from Oakley’s sale. It weighs .9oz or 90% of 1oz. Oakley should consider remaining the cap the hyper light because it checks the boxes that ultralighters are looking for. The perforated holes also help you to wick sweat quickly. I’d recommend the Pursuit for hikers and runners. 

This color way is rye which is a combination of brown and tan, with a metallic grey Oakley symbol. I appreciate this neutral color way because of its versatility. The hat pairs well with clothes of all colors. I prefer the neutrality because oftentimes, my brighter hats such as my blue grateful dead dancing bears hat only pairs well with blue shirts, and my navy Pirates hat only pairs well with yellow or navy shirts.

While the HSTN and Meta AI have more features, and offer 4K video recording, the Voltage and the Nitrous offer audio useful for listening to music, making phone calls, and listening to audiobooks at half the price.
