13:30 long battery life is likely due to it using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Most keyboards I found are Bluetooth Classic, only ProtoArc seems to support BLE as of now. Unfortunately the BK03 seems to be sold out everywhere and what bugs me is it doesn’t have a separate ESC key (I work with vim a lot).
Thanks for the reviews! At this point, are there any good full-sized (laptop-sized) keyboards like the bk05 that have USB-C and work in wired mode? Or should I resign myself to getting the bk05 and living with micro-USB?
Which one has thee best touchpad? Is it even worth it to get one with a touchpad?
Thanks i bought the proarc
You deserve a Like for this. 👍🏾
This is a fantastic roundup. Subbed.
When you say passthrough, this means it has a usb data connection right? Im only browsing these because im a pc technician so bluetooth not useful to me! Thanks!
So,….On the Tri-fold keyboard with the huge track pad 4:48,……You must have got a dud. I bought one, and it is amazingly fast and accurate. I also like the joint between R-T, F-G, C-V, Ive always had trouble keeping my left hand on point and that joint really has helped me out. I give mine a 4.5/5
Do the BK03 or BK08 support hardwire connection with USB-c also? I assume that is what pass through means
Is the bow upgraded full size?
That iClever BK06 looks more like micro-USB than USB-C, and that’s what the specs say too. It looks identical to the Perixx 805E and the Targus Ergonomic Foldable. I assume same factory, but not sure if one of the three is the actual designer/manufacturer or if all three are rebadging it.
Thank you for the video, really good comparison! Could you please check if Protoarc XK01 supports passthrough? I want to have it as a backup keyboard for a PC and with BT only I won’t be able to enter BIOS or something
thank you for your review
thankyou
@verylastdollar iClever has the BK05S out now that has USB-C.
What state are you from where everything is a question-toned non-question…..?
I have a tablet android. What is the best? Please
thanks for your help
You do not have to repeat every observation three times and then say it once more at the end. When you say “It is really good to write on” or “The keys are very clicky” we believe it and remember it even if announced only once and then reiterated once in the summary. The video would be about 30% shorter if this unnecessary and random repetition were removed. You should follow or at least author a script before recording. It usually helps in avoiding this kind of chatty ineffective style many amateur reviewers on Youtube suffer from and what makes pro sites’ content feels so much higher quality without them necessarily being any “better”.
Another thing pros do better: They put the name if the product as text on the video because no one can interpret from your pronunciation what the bizarre brand name or model name is or how it is written into a search engine or Amazon.
Ok, the further this video goes the more comical this repetition of statements starts to sound. Perhaps it is an intentional stylistic thing?
I’m here to look up one from tik tok ultra think keyboard with a trackpad lol
I have the same keyboard like the rovinda. But mine is labelled Quanfeng B055 and all the swipe gestures seem to work, at least on my Samsung devices. Keystrokes feel a bit mooshy but tactile enough to feel good. All in all, it’s pretty good for a compact foldable keyboard from Temu.
Also the Q, W, E and R key are also labeled iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. I think, those are compatibility modes. Did you select the iOS one?
And i got a user manual in english, french, german, italian, spanish and of course chinese. So far i can judge at the english, german and france, it isn’t the usual google translate manual but written in correct languages, coherent sentences and the right words to describe things. Something you usually don’t get from clones.
4:53 lmao
Thank you for making this video. Really helpful. Going to try 2 or 3 of them
u mention the xko1 is backlit.. it is not -fyi
I am looking for a spanish iso keyboard. Do you know any?
Are there any foldable keyboards with touchpad that also lock to use on your lap?
7:58 you holding your cmera with mouth, wow , the lenghts you go for good video. Good work man, amazing video 👍
if there was a foldable keyboard like bow upgraded with trackpoint like on thinkpads, that would be a perfect travel keyboard
Great roundup. I appreciate that you weren’t just saying they were all perfect in order to get affiliate link clicks, like most “review” videos on YT these days.
I’m struggling to love any of the folding keyboards I’ve tried. The Protoarc ergo is pretty nice but the keys have a bit too much resistance and the overall size seems bigger than necessary to accommodate the battery, I’m guessing…
The SODI wireless folding keyboard with trackpad might be my favorite but it’s the only one that has a power switch and that’s surprisingly inconvenient for a portable keyboard like this.
which of these (or any new foldables or keyboards/keyboard cases) could you also rate based on most use portable cases: e.g. typing on the lap or on a couch, on small tables/travel, on the go, coffee shops, etc.
Any foldable keyboard with backlight and usb-C?
Bro do u just not care how your videos come out? Multiple flubbed lines you left in the video in a row. I counted 4 times this happened and not even done with the video. graphical artifiacting from rendering as well. Try just a little harder m8. This is something I wanted to know for a while.
Useful video, thanks. You tend to have a rising inflection and emphasis at the end of every sentence fragment. It was more pronounced in some sections than others. If you try to develop a way of recording the voice-over that strings things together in longer sentences it might reduce that, assuming you don’t naturally speak that way which will require a bit more effort to retrain yourself. As an Australian I’m used to people speaking with a rising inflection at the end of sentences so it was really just the parts (especially early on) where it made your VO drag a bit with the slightly monotonous rhythm… I’m only commenting because overall it was a good video, this is just feedback on one aspect.
I’m old school and need one of these keyboard/touchpads that allows me to plug-n-play with a USB cable. My scenario is that I work in the field and need to plug into headless devices. I do not have the ability to add a BT device, so most of these newer foldables are useless to me. I need a foldable keyboard/touchpad that I can plug into any PC and start using (with my portable monitor. Any product suggestions?
Why did you prefer the Upgraded BOW compared to the iClever BK08….?
I got the Iclever BK08 about a year ago, based on yours and other reviews. While it was great while it lasted, now a year later with only light usage, some of the keys are not working. So dissappointed..I am now thinking to try out the new Keys 2 Go 2. for my ipad mini. I have a feeling that Folding keyboards are prone to malfunction due to the moving parts…
Argh!! – I want something like the BK08 but without a trackpad 🙁 – what about the ProtoArc XK04?
13:58 damn this guy got a degree in Yapanese
Any of these with backlight?
In general, I always prefer foldable keyboards with six-row layout and integrated touchpad. Out of all foldable keyboards shown here, the ProtoArc XK01 is my favourite since there’s another version with full-sized touchpad instead of numpad. The obVus could be a worthy budget choice, but the touchpad is a real missed opportunity. The iClever’s BK05 and BK08 could have been great products if there’s an integrated touchpad and six-row layout respectively.
Speaking of foldable keyboards in general, Samsers Foldable BT Keyboard should be in the list too.
Impressive the effort that went into this, thank you so much. While I’m generally with you in usb-c, get a Cable Creations 4-in-1 usb cable, solves all the variations of connectors, great for the daypack or when traveling.
Which one would you recommend if i wanna use it to play games on my Samsung z fold 5, with a mouse also. Thank you
What about the ProtoArc XK02 vs the iClever?
At 10:10 is that USB-C like you said or is that Micro USB ?
Very good review. I may try the mechanical one or the last one with the track pad… I have to ponder on what would suit me best…
Witch one would you recommend for ROG ally?
Does the XK01 number pad work in IOS? No one doing reviews of this unit show it working, and I read from some user comments on Amazon that it does not work. The number pad specifically for typing numbers does not work in IOS. Can you confirm?
Crazy that the iclever split layout keyboard is the exact same as the Targus one, just with USB c
Only ONE out of 15 do have USB-C passthrough. So you basically reviewed Bluetooth keyboards. And on top of that you didn’t even review the latency as Bluetooth keyboard latency can vary quite a lot from models.
Hi there! thanks for making effort of reviewing these foldable keyboards, it is really helpful! I’ve got a question and wondering if you could answer it: I’m using MAC, the reason I’m looking for a keyboard is that I need to use Windows keyboard shortcuts in Excel, do you think the iClever BK08 will allow me to use Window shortcut in Excel on my MAC?
Thank you so much for your time!
Living in Malaysia, it seems nearly impossible to find the Bow updated version. I’m seeing an online store that sells bow products, but they aren’t listing the updated version. Seems like the older one. I feel like that’s the best one for me. Price is about Usd35 here.
