You seem like you made this to help people, so don’t take this criticism as hate, but some of this is wrong or incomplete.
Having a Cat8 cable does nothing unless you live in a datacenter.
Most home fiber users are gonna be 1gb/s tops, and thats doable with Cat6.
Also, running a Cat8 cable from your router to your ps5 would only make a difference if you also had a Cat8 patch cable to your modem,
and even then your modem and router both would need to support 10g/100g.
You mention the google nest router as a good option for gaming,
but it only supports 1gb/s ethernet so you’d be bottlenecked right there.
Netgear and Asus make the best routers if you want gaming performance because they are built from the ground up for it.
Larger caches, faster processors, active cooling, etc… all things that either reduce latency or prevent throttling.
And another thing to note, is that the playstation itself (even the pro variant) only have a 1gb ethernet port, but the pro features wifi 7
which is 48gb/s, and even the standard ps5’s wifi 6 can provide better performance vs 1gb ethernet (though it is very setup dependent).
I would have to imagine the DNS settings are what actually made a difference for people,
though there is something to be said about ethernet cable quality differences.

  34. @JPP540 on September 28, 2025 at 1:23 am

  35. @daniellegos12 on September 28, 2025 at 1:23 am

I use to get around 800mbps download, now my speeds are fluctuating bad around 80 to 300. Its ridiculous and I know its the isp

  36. @southsideslondon on September 28, 2025 at 1:24 am

But the Ps5 internet speeds is capped at 1gb?

  37. @zentiix635 on September 28, 2025 at 1:25 am

    This is actually horrible

  38. @Swguitar161 on September 28, 2025 at 1:26 am

I was on 1Gb download speeds then changed ISPs to fiber for 2Gb. I have a PS5 pro and still having same issue with new ISP. I was troubleshooting with the previous ISP to no avail. Got new equipment, restarted equipment and got firmware updates, did the manual DNS settings you mentioned, had 2 techs come out and all of my devices are getting proper speeds when hard wired except my playstation. I then bought my own router and even set it up and still cant breach more than 93Mbps. Returned the router and switched ISPs and am now fiber 2Gb with an Eero router and still nothing. This is wild.

  39. @xxfanet123 on September 28, 2025 at 1:28 am

I have a good download speed but my upload speed isn’t that fast

thanks a ton, you’re doing amazing work.

  46. @airwickyeager on September 28, 2025 at 1:33 am

Doesn’t matter how fast your internet is, the PS5 can only handle 1 Gbps. No need for CAT8, CAT6 is good enough (10 Gbps).

  47. @Lordstrathconaonhorseback on September 28, 2025 at 1:36 am
