I have done a video comparing Quest 3/Pro and Pimax on my channel. Real FOV in games is much wider on the Pimax, just like the ad shows. Tools measure incorrect FOV simply because they measuring just the center point of the lens.. but the whole point both headsets have new lenses that allow to see the whole view in focus, they both allow to move your eyes around. Pimax comes with aspherical lenses this is why it feels weird, cuz it’s squeezing image at a different rate across the lens and this is why it has not only around 1/3 wider FOV but way better overlap and 3D effect at the same time. Adda much better contrast and Pimax makes everything pop in 3D so much more, plus it actually makes you feel like standing inside a 3D room.. where Quest’s image feels super flat in comparison.

I got my Pimax headset and it feels hella diff from quest 3 the lenses has a little bit of a fish bowl effect and and it has a weird motion blur to it’s weird is this normal

I will never buy another quest owned a q1 and q2 but the usbc and airlink pc image looks so bad with bitrate compression. I need display port. Got a pimax 8k super couple years ago and honestly its amazing

I mostly play FPS and melee-focused games. My sessions usually last 3–5 hours, so I’m wondering if the PCL would still be a good fit.
I’ve seen people say it isn’t ideal for active games, which worries me. I’d prefer not to upgrade from a Q2 to a Q3 if possible, since I never play standalone or over Wi-Fi—I dislike the added latency.
(I know you told us what you do, but you have both. Would you still recommend it if I have to choose one?)
The Quest 3 with PCVR makes me want to jump off. My issue with it is having to deal with the app. If either the app or the system are not on the current update, they won’t work together but neither will tell you that they need to be updated. It also doesn’t help that if you are playing Steam VR but have the wrong Open XR Runtime set (the Quest Link app tells you to set it to the Quest Link one), then the entire system will start having random issues like the camera flying away or a large screen door effect. I really wish there was an easily accessible PC VR headset that isn’t expensive and doesn’t come with some draw back like lighthouse sensors. The only one I can think of is the PSVR2 but that isn’t majorly supported. I’d love to see a company like Pimax make a headset that is as simple as plug and play for less than $500.
If the quest 3 had display port connection it would be the absolute perfect headset

Honestly , you right lol , having both is the best of both worlds , one for standalone the other for pcvr. After trying a bunch of other VR headsets this is the golden combo (atleast for me).

I’m really trying to get into Skyrim VR, (for years at this point). I built my first PC about 6 months ago and it’s working very well for ultra modded Skyrim wabbajack lists, but my goal is VR with chatgpt to enable full conversations with NPCs in a virtual world. That has been my dream game idea since I was a kid, and now it’s an achievable reality. For anyone reading this, which headset would you all recommend? I really like the idea of wireless, but more importantly, great controller function and finger tracking would be a necessity for real immersion. Graphics would take a backseat to function and comfortable playability. I am open to any suggestions. Thank you.

A total mismatch you cannot compare the two. It only comes down to what you prioritize
for PCVR my favourite combo is Pico 4 Ultra and Pimax crystal light
I know exactly what you mean about the Crystal Light, to my eyes it looks like it has a way bigger FOV to me over my quest, I think its down to the quests Binocular overlap creating a weird shape whereas the Crystal light looks more like a big rectangular screen
I think the pimax was pretty comfortable out of the box. The straps that come with quest….yeah, trash. I gave it to my miniature schnauzer to play with. It makes a good dog toy.
nice to actually see a modded skyrim vr in one of these. one of the main reasons i was wanting to upgrade is my modlist is amazing but im on an old headset (samsung odyssey +) and i want more pixels lol
