Is This the Coolest Smart Lock Ever? Level Lock Pro REVIEW

The NEW Level Lock Pro is here — the world’s first invisible smart lock just got even smarter! 🚪🔑 In this video, I unbox, install, and review the all-new Level Lock Pro with Matter + Apple Home Key support. From its hidden motor to the brand-new hardware platform, motion sensor, and door status detection, this upgrade makes one of the best smart locks even better.

Level’s original lock stood out because it looked completely normal from the outside — no bulky hardware. The Level Lock Pro keeps that sleek, invisible design while adding:
• 🚪 Door status detection with invisible magnets in the strike plate
• ⚡ New hardware platform for faster, more reliable performance
• 🏠 Full support for Matter + Thread for better smart home compatibility
• 📱 Apple Home Key unlock with iPhone + Apple Watch
• 👀 A hidden motion sensor to improve battery life

I’ll walk you through what’s in the box, show you how to install it in under 10 minutes, and test all the ways you can lock and unlock — keys, fobs, automations, Apple Home, and Home Key. Finally, I’ll share whether the Level Lock Pro is worth upgrading from the Level Lock Plus or if you should wait for future features like Aliro (UWB).

Hopefully the cylinder can be replaced into something that is slightly more secure than the U.S. standard ”look at me angrily and I pop open”-type … like ABLOY Protec2 … after all, a lock is only as secure as its least secure part.

  2. @MikeKobb on September 6, 2025 at 11:24 pm

If it has a strike plate sensor, why would it even lock when touched if it knows the door is open?

  3. @Sheikh-XX on September 6, 2025 at 11:24 pm

I can’t believe they didn’t fix one major flaw: The battery. I leave my room locked for months and work in another city, and the battery always runs out within 4 months. If I didn’t keep the key or lost it while the battery runs out, I have to literally break the lock to open my room. Disaster. I don’t know why they didn’t make it a rechargeable lock with an emergency charging port somewhere hidden so that we could charge it just in case we lost the key. It also doesn’t notify me when the battery is low in the home app. I sent them an email about this two years ago. I don’t recommend it.

This is dumb. Anyone who’s done homebridge work knows it is possible to create linked devices. Level Locks just needs to expose this as a door sensor and link both (which can then also be decoupled) 5:09

  5. @alyanram on September 6, 2025 at 11:28 pm

looks good but for 350$$$ that is crazy, amazon ones are 35$. so I can buy smart locks for my entire neighborhood with the price of one!.

  6. @BostonTerrierDad623 on September 6, 2025 at 11:29 pm

I’ve had yale smart locks for a while & absolutely LOVE them.

While they make a horrid safe, the door locks are phenomenal.

It marries with my Apple products seamlessly & I have special codes for cleaning staff & family / friends.

I also have it setup thru Apple Home, so when I drive up, it “Auto Unlocks”. & once I leave, it “auto locks”.

I live alone otherwise, so I can’t really speak to that, but with me & the people that are at my home the most frequently, it is second to none!

I also have them in my Airbnbs. Another fantastic experience!

    When A fantastic experience.

Using Aqara U50 and happily using it. As for Level Lock… “Level products, including Level Locks, are currently only available and supported within the United States.” Good luck with purchasing and importantly, support.

  8. @Kevdog1920 on September 6, 2025 at 11:32 pm

    thats awesome though

  9. @Rich-p8r6q on September 6, 2025 at 11:33 pm

These seem like the least secure lock you can get.

  10. @TheOpinionatedYouTuber on September 6, 2025 at 11:34 pm

How sturdy is the bolt that sits inside of the doorframe when locked? Did I correctly see the battery going into this? How much force on the door, and ultimately that bolt, until it breaks and then shears the battery open, causing a fire?

  11. @Tsusut1234 on September 6, 2025 at 11:34 pm

terrible company. Good luck getting a simple return label if your lock does not actually fit despite pre-measuring and checking product for specifications. Takes an act of god for a return. General website info is wrong to compel you to buy— then the old, absent support.

This so-called YouTube review is also inaccurate in a number of claims and given the obvious attempt to sell product via their junk links— extremely suspect for honesty.

  12. @432wheels on September 6, 2025 at 11:36 pm

    Can the barrel be rekeyed?

  13. @coldham77 on September 6, 2025 at 11:37 pm

the lock picking lawyer will show us all how to pop it open.

  14. @63GBPackerfan on September 6, 2025 at 11:38 pm

I have a level bolt and Yale Access+ installed. Love them both.

  15. @barneyIoh on September 6, 2025 at 11:39 pm

Since the lock is able to detect door closure, is it able to lock the door if door closure is detected?
I’m thinking like an option in the level lock iOS app

  16. @truman4956 on September 6, 2025 at 11:41 pm

Let the lock picking lawyer test it first.

  17. @bobwood63 on September 6, 2025 at 11:41 pm

Dude, what’s up with the hair?

  18. @Kevdog1920 on September 6, 2025 at 11:43 pm

but you need home pod mini or apple tv to use it too

  19. @tim6986 on September 6, 2025 at 11:44 pm

wonder how saw resistant a hollow dead bolt would be.

  20. @HinesEdventures on September 6, 2025 at 11:44 pm

i use aquara for our back door. works great

  21. @Kurt.S_YT on September 6, 2025 at 11:45 pm

I loved them, but the app wasn’t clear on if it was locked or not, just the level lock logo, and also no thumbprint biometric unlock method. I’d like the external Numbpad to support it if they could.

  22. @MargatanHomes on September 6, 2025 at 11:46 pm

FINALLY! Been requesting strike plate sensor for Open/Close status. This is great!
Now upgrade the Connect Firmware, it’s currently only allowing viewing Open/Close status, which doesn’t mean much when connected to HomeKit/Matter already. Need to also control Settings/Guests/Fobs remotely. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

  23. @fknid on September 6, 2025 at 11:47 pm

Did i just see him put the battery inside the deadbolt? So your house is protected by the strength of your AA battery?

  24. @abbyman00 on September 6, 2025 at 11:48 pm

It looks like a good lock , not sure why people think a lock with a small box on inside wall the thickness of a AA battery is hideous. I barely noticed mine and with four batteries I get almost a year out of it before I have to change them.

  25. @LordSaliss on September 6, 2025 at 11:48 pm

Why would this have physical keys included if you are supposed to be able to use it with your existing lock cylinder?

  26. @Tulimafat on September 6, 2025 at 11:48 pm

I switched over to the Aqara U50 for our doorlock. I initially had the level lock + with homekey support. In the beginning in was fine, but eventually it didn’t work, and the support team was not finding any solutions. They were also incredibly slow, so I eventually switched over to Aqara (already own other products from them), and with same day delivery from Amazon, I had all my problem fixed within 24 hours, which the Level Lock support team couldn’t do in the span of several weeks.

I liked the design of the Level Lock, but if it’s not reliable, I simply have to stick with what works. In my case, it’s Aqara.

  27. @keoghrichard1988 on September 6, 2025 at 11:49 pm

Whenever someone says honest review…. Why am I suspicious? 😂

  28. @grahamthomas6381 on September 6, 2025 at 11:50 pm

The only comment I have to make is what the fuck is going on with your hair? Weird!

  29. @BlazingNina on September 6, 2025 at 11:51 pm

Had August smart lock but that died so I just got the Nuki Smart Lock. Key selling point for me is retrofit deadbolt so I didn’t change the deadbolt, just the lock itself. Also half the price.

  30. @tvman8 on September 6, 2025 at 11:52 pm

I have an August lock. Love it.

  31. @jccbsl1 on September 6, 2025 at 11:53 pm

Don’t forget it’s purpose is to lock the door and secure you and your property. Companies that market locks with all the electronic sophistication yet ignore the vulnerabilities of their mechanical key cylinders from picking and bumping are selling their customers a false sense of security. Best upgrade I could see for this lock is to fill the keyway with 2 part epoxy.

  32. @JDoG867 on September 6, 2025 at 11:55 pm

I have x4 August locks. Coming from someone with 70 HomeKit devices

  33. @zonkered on September 6, 2025 at 11:55 pm

No smart key? I like one key for all locks.

  34. @ericdickson2065 on September 6, 2025 at 11:55 pm

I’m wondering how that deadbolt cylinder will hold up to someone trying to break in being that it’s hollow (to accommodate the battery being there)

  35. @mrleblanc on September 6, 2025 at 11:56 pm

Too late, I wanted Thread which the Level Lock Plus didn’t have so I got a Schlage Encore Plus because I was tired of waiting ! And I’m 100% satisfied, only used 10% battery in 3 months

  36. @Kjaywest on September 7, 2025 at 12:00 am

Does it still drink batteries? The one I have is crazy how many batteries I use in that thing. Also, it disconnect a lot. I’m still using it, but will not get anything one from them.

  37. @MrCg006 on September 7, 2025 at 12:01 am

would love to try these but at 350.. it spretty steep.

  38. @tuca3537 on September 7, 2025 at 12:01 am

According to the Verge’s review it stated that Level’s founder and CTO said they are working on UWB and it also said the Lock Pro has the hardware ability to support UWB. It sounded like you suggested UWB would only come in a future lock.
Would love some clarification on that if you have any contacts at Level.

  39. @LeifES on September 7, 2025 at 12:02 am

No video? The ad never ends.

  40. @JRod2326 on September 7, 2025 at 12:02 am

    Bad hair day huh?

  41. @Quentame74 on September 7, 2025 at 12:06 am

Is it 3 points door lock compatible ?

In the EU we have doors with 3 (or more) points going from the door to the frame for better security. Don’t know elsewhere

  42. @BreakTime10101 on September 7, 2025 at 12:07 am

It would be nice if it had the Kwikset rekey cylinder.

  43. @nacobjacob on September 7, 2025 at 12:07 am

    Ew so dusty,

  44. @NothingToSeeHere-mb3fw on September 7, 2025 at 12:09 am

    Cost???
Did I miss you saying what the cost of the Level Lock Pro?

  45. @Chadpw on September 7, 2025 at 12:10 am

    level lock installed

  46. @yankeesusa1 on September 7, 2025 at 12:10 am

3.8 Star rating on Amazon. Not looking good.

  47. @OriginalJetForMe on September 7, 2025 at 12:11 am

Have they done anything to improve the incredibly weak mechanical keyway? The last one was easily opened with a rake.

  48. @dontbanmebrodontbanme5403 on September 7, 2025 at 12:11 am

    I don’t have a smart lock installed.

  49. @TRC714 on September 7, 2025 at 12:11 am

Cool but way too expensive compared to other HomeKit compatible smart locks.

  50. @rgwebb2008 on September 7, 2025 at 12:11 am

The Matter update on the existing Lock+ and Bolt were game changers for the Level product line. They were not particularly reliable as Bluetooth comms locks. I was getting close to replacing the two Level products with the Schlage Encode Plus (I also have two of those in the house too).

However, the Matter update came right around the time I was considering that expensive jump and it changed everything about the Level locks in my opinion. They’re now very reliable and not prone to No Response status in Home app. Additionally, with Matter the Level locks respond to actions from Home app/Siri instantaneously. They’re now a smart lock that look great and work great too.
