This is a GREAT review. I’ve always loved my Canon pocket cameras. How about the Fujifilm x-m1? It’s APS-C without a low pass filter for awesome quality images. Stick on the cheap xc-15-45mm zoom (22-70mm equivalent) and you are on fire. It has a tilt screen too.
I just can’t see a reason to get these cameras that are, at least in Canada $1k+, over getting a Mirrorless camera with say a pancake lens. Then later on, buying any other type of lens for a small amount. The sizes from mirrorless isn’t that vast. Can someone please explain to me why you would in some cases pay more for a camera without interchangeable lenses, less options and a smaller sensor?!
I think these all look pretty cool, but only if they were around $500-1k would they be worth while. Unless I’m missing the point.

i need long zoom range for a compact camera only..because my hp can handle for short distance and low light..but to capture image for a long distance ,this is impossible to my hp can achieve it .so,This problem will be taken over by my lumix tz99…i dont need VF or EVF actually because i prepare to use both of my eyeball to check the screen.only i use Vf for my old kodak negatif film camera because it doesn’t have a live screen monitor.

Good video. I think however if you’re going to consider the R50 you may as well go to the Sony A7C. Same weight, smaller body, better quality video. Yes, twice the price which is maybe why you made a pass on it.
I don’t recommend the ZV1-ii. Stills are unusable.My old P&S takes better photos.

They cost too much, i rather use my old phone S23 ultra.
I got the Ricoh gr III and you can get good deals on it around the used market, I paid around 650USD for a used one (6 months old and in mint condition). This Camera beats most of the compact cameras TBH, is the smallest APS-C with 24 mpx, and it has insane focus when you get used to the snap focus features and also the IBIS is next level in this one so it’s good for low light shooting. If you like photography this is the best option, but it’s useless for video, don’t even try.
I have a Mark 1 Rx100 from 2012. Is it worth upgrading? I’m just a travel photo guy no video no content creation. They seem similarly specced.

I have the Panasonic lumix gx850/gx800/gf9. It is a great camera and it is about the size of a point and shoot like the ones you talked about in the video. It has interchangeable lenses and a sensor better than a one inch sensor (micro 4/3). And it is very affordable. Definitely will recommend this camera.
I already have a full frame camera, a7iv, buy a pocket camera would be nice for those moments when I can’t get the big camera out of my backpack in time. Rx100 Vii isn’t cheap. But I don’t dare to have the full frame camera mounted to my backpack strap. Nor a chest harness. I saw the Rx100iii used but still not super cheap but less than half of the price. Cheapest camera I found were super small pocket cameras. Saw some Samsung some Nikon some I don’t even know what is.

Not sure why you reviewed the Canon Mark 2 when the Mark 3 came out before your video. It does have a mic input. But be warned: IT IS THE WORST CAMERA CANON HAS EVER MADE! I’ve had mine for well over a year and the auto focusing has to be the worst in the business. I paid a thousand bucks for my camera because everything I own is Canon, the best in the business, but something went wring with the Mark 3, and I’m out of a thousand bucks for this crappy camera. I’m hoping that Canon has learned their lesson from all the bad reviews in the Net about this horrible camera.
