I have an AccuChek meter because that is what my doctor uses… not sure where you are getting $60 for 100 strips… I usually pay around $40 for them.
I have a Contour Next One and Next Gen. The test strips with a prescription are only about $20 for 100 strips at Costco, which is why I asked for the Contour, even though it wasn’t supported by my insurance.
Does it matter when you take the drop of blood? Meaning do you have to squeeze out and wipe off the first few drops or just take the drop on first poke with the lancet?
I get my contour next strips off Amazon or eBay from high volume sellers. Typically the expiration is at least a year out and avg. cost of strip varies from $0.25 to $0.45. $1.45/strip? Uhm… never seen that. I guess maybe buying a 10pk from a local pharmacy, or the individually wrapped option.
Today on Amazon, 70pk of contour next one strips are $0.38 each.
My meter has an accuracy of +- 10%. For a true blood sugar value of 6 mmol/L (108 mg/dl) the meter could read anything between 5.4 (6 -10%) and 6.6 (6 +10%) and be within its specification. You need to take accuracy into account when interpreting results, for example readings of 5.4, 6, 6.6 are effectively the same value because they do not differ by more than the accuracy of the meter.
I used Contour Next for years but switched to Accu-check because it has the fast-click lancer with a carousel for the stickers. That is not the cheapest, but it is much easier for me to manage. Since they are similarly accurate, going with what features mean the most you you
another nice video THANKS; I use the ACCU-CHEK Guide
Thank you

What’s the difference between Contour next one and Contour next Generation? Looking to get one of these soon. Thanks

Someone is using your image to link to a review of the Zakdavi glucose monitor but it ends up being a review saying how the meter is a scam.
I just checked bs with three different meters . The Relion , contour next and One Touch Verio Flex . the countor next had highest number at 125 and the One Touch was 115 and the relion premier compact came up with 111. There’s some discrepency but not too wildly ..
Which one would you recommend for me to use to make sure my Dexcom G7 is calibrated correctly?
Great information, thanks for testing those meters.
My favorite meter is the Contour Next. As to the price per strip….. With Medicare you can pay as little as .03 cents per strip ( I just did). Via the internet, (without prescription) my most recent price amounted to .36 cents per strip. DON’T pay list price. There are merchants online that have much better prices.

THANK YOU!!! You have the best channel for helping with basic diabetic tips. You have helped me so much!! Thank you!
Quick tip
You talked so fast when recommending models and never showed a close up I could not get which ones were best. I d mention the brand and do a close up of it. You d just flash it-didn t help me much
Could you please do a review of the Go? I was diagnosed type 2 about three weeks ago, and insurance issued me the basic true metrix kit. I don’t like how bulky it is, nor the fact it won’t talk to Google fit, Samsung health, or myfitnesspal (and I assume apple health, even though not an issue for me). Pending doctor approval I’m looking at the Dario with the Go as second choice. I’ve also expecting to get the libre 3 cgm, but appointment is next week. So tester will be for double checking and backups.
I see how-to videos for the Go, but no reviews.
I use the one touch that my insurance pays for
I like the contour next thought
Do you have a favorite meter? Or found that any meters aren’t worth the money?
The True Matrix works with the Medical Brain that i can share with my doctor. The strips are sold by CVS so get a CVS rewards card and every week you get a coupon for 20 to 40 % off an item. The Livongo gives you free supplies but I was not happy with the accuracy
I am from India diagnosed with t1dm at 2013 my age is 15
But i can’t control my craving of sugar
Good to know. I use a Contour Next One and have found it tracks very closely to lab values when I see a phlebotomist, as well as my ketone/BG meter from Abbott. Stelo however is generally 10~15mg/dL above or below BG samples.
any thoughts about the laser meters out there??? glucosense ?
Ive never heard if most of them. Perhaps its different in Europe.
I’m confused at that pricing. I use Contour Next One. I get my strips from Walmart. 70 for $26.58.
Thank you sis! I love your videos.
Trueness is perfect with the best strip prices. Compared to my Contour Next One they read identical.
I love the Nano and Duo-C meters from center health. They both plug into my phone. I get unlimited strips for $29.00 a month. I also get my Freestyle Libre 3 + sensors through center health. I have to pay out of pocket for everything since I’m not insulin dependent but, it’s worth it to me. I manage my T2 with diet and exercise. No medications at all. I was on Metformin for a very short time when I was first diagnosed.

Blood test is more accurate than Dexcom.
what type of watch device are you showing at the 2:10 time
Glad to see you prick your finger on the side instead of the center area. Still hurts, but not as much.
My favorite is the Contour next. While you may pay $1.45 per strip, my last E-Bay purchase of strips expiring in 2026 is 38 cents per strip, and I will go through those well before expiration. I have Livongo for free but the readings tend to be higher compared to when I get an actual blood draw, whereas Contour is in line…
thanks for the 411. do you have a recommend for meters that also check ketones? ty.
Good info 👍😎
Unfortunately True Metrix is discontinued.
My favorite is Accucheck Mobile
It would be helpful if you used accurate and correct prices for the Bayer/Ascensia Contour Next blood glucose test strips. Walmart and Amazon both have 70 of the strips for $26.58. A simple Google search.
Love the videos, but don’t know where your paying $145 for contour next strips. Amazon has a pack of 70 for $26
Thank you for the video, i have the Relion from Walmart, it is only $15 and the strips are good price and it comes with a free app, that does a breakdown and i can send it to my doctor whenever she needs it, it shows up and downs, i can put in notes on when i am working out, or why it might have been higher. As for you mentioning insurance, my insurance has a high deductable, there wanting me to get it through the insurance is more expensive than getting over the counter.
Thank you for making this video. I’ve been looking to get a new meter but need to know what is best so this is perfect timing for me. Thank you again.
I really like my Accu check (mainly the 6 in 1 lancets), but my Livongo meter has rechargeable batteries, and it kinda sucks when your meter won’t work because of dead batteries. I just got a tempo so I guess that’s what I use now, because they say that’s what covered and I don’t want to have to pay extra.
LINKSUN IS GOOD METTER
I have been able to get the Contour Next test strips for a good price. Right now Walmart has 70 strips for $26. At CVS you can use their percentage off coupons on test strips also.
You are such a great teacher.
So, what is most accurate glucose meter in your tests and real world uses?
