Great review- thank you! Cancelling CPI after 6 years and going with SimpliSafe- been looking at them for a while and I just prefer DIY over large companies that make it difficult to upgrade, get support, etc. CPI even offered to upgrade all of my equipment and lower the monthly cost by $20, but like I told them- when I called to upgrade the doorbell camera after multiple issues, they wanted to charge me like $500- I don’t like the different stories and options they give depending on who comes out or who you talk to. I don’t have time for guessing games and wondering if I’m getting the best deal. So- giving something new a try!

Well, I guess I am just dumber than the average consumer. She downplays ring because it takes a subscription, tell me which security system does not take a subscription?

The problem with reading comments is that every comment is trashing a system . I rarely see a comment that gives me the pros and cons…. It’s whatever system they have is actually garbage. Once in a while, I will read that someone likes what they have but most of the time it’s negative.

I wish there was an expert I could talk to. I just want a system that I can buy several cameras place them around my home outside, none inside, except in my garage. and then only I can monitor the video real time, I monitor it inside my house or when I’m on vacation or away I remotely monitor AND I can go back and look at old videos… I don’t want a security person or police monitoring my videos, or notifying me or being called automatically…. I want to be my police force and my monitor….. I don’t want big brother in my life. If I need the cops, I will call them.

I will probably go with ringing because my friend who lives out in the country has several cameras outside his place. He has no complaints and was able to show me older videos and told me that they look look at their videos when they are on vacation. no ring camera has failed and they pay for the second level plan which I think is $10 a month or so…

Let’s not do business with Greedy companies.
That is how we can teach them.

  4. @Michael-he2js on July 25, 2025 at 7:56 pm

Simplisafe is probably best as long as you can always receive texts as it kicks you off the app monthly for "security". It’s hard to 2 step text authenticate if you travel internationally or are somewhere without cell coverage (only wifi)
Cove is the worst one that I’ve tried including their service (sensors go off & no issue is ever their fault). Vivnt’s cost is far higher than the service provided. ADT sales team is pushy & feels like a scam. Ring does a lot in a mediocre way but doesn’t work well enough for its price point

  5. @Onecupper9876 on July 25, 2025 at 7:57 pm

Ring is susceptible to WiFi jamming

  6. @macmovieman1 on July 25, 2025 at 7:58 pm

We have 6 4k nest wired camera on the perimeter of our house or Security and it has been enough until recently. Our home insurance provider reached out and told us if we didn’t automate a police response or a fire response who would end up paying about 20% more so it was cheaper to buy a system. After researching my priorities I went with Abode for the perfect apple home integration. I was able to buy a Zigby fire detection unit that paired with the unit and would automatically call the fire department if there was an issue. I was also able to easily set it up to call the police department in the event of a break-in. One thing you did not mention were there were certifications that I could print out for both of these that showed proof that I had set it up to reduce my home insurance, which would’ve gone up about $400 a year. The overall cost was about $350 with discounts for everything

    VIVINT REP HERE πŸ‘‹πŸΎ :

We have gotten a lot of positive reviews aswell… vivint by far has the superior technology and lifesaving benefits that far exceed the dollar value you spend per month… compared to the competition we have more to offer as in smart home capabilities such as thermostats, smart locks, garage door controller’s, solar and a lot more and that’s on top of your security and cameras.. yes just like any company we cannot satisfy all consumers. But our mission to protect families far exceeds our competitors we protect over 2 million customers nationwide wide. We strive to bring innovation into the space with products no other company has quite literally no other security company can sell you solar panels for your house ! How cool is that 😊. Feel free to message me for any questions‼️

And remember Disney land has some of the worst reviews but everyone says it’s a magical place πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

  11. @GodFirstAlways333 on July 25, 2025 at 8:02 pm

I have dealt with several security systems over the years, including Xfinity, CPI, and ADT. However, the worst by far is Wyze. They have poor customer service and worst troubleshooting. If you do not believe me, check the reviews and do your homework.

  12. @5firebird on July 25, 2025 at 8:02 pm

Anybody have a recommendation for something better than simplisafe. My cameras are so hit and miss on recording
Drop recording from "connectivity issues" plenty of Wi-Fi signal. And it rotates between cameras, sometimes 2 at a time.

  13. @katiebea9258 on July 25, 2025 at 8:04 pm

Does ANYONE know, actually REALLY know, if there is a system that CANNOT be hacked and used to spy on us? Cell phones, PC monitors, etc always snooping, so how much easier wirh homesec systems??

  14. @eml3148 on July 25, 2025 at 8:06 pm

I’ve been with ADT in my previous house for about 10 years. In that 10 Years I never had any issues, false alarms, keypad failures, sensor failures, smoke alarm issues. I’ve recently moved to Alabama and I was told that ADT recently has designed a complete digital system. I’ve had the new system for 5 months now. And quite clearly it SUCKS! In those 5 months I almost have DAILY problems: Sensor failings, Keypad Multiple Issues, False Alarms, Hardware & Software updates. Their old analog Keypad I believe was made by Honeywell. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. Now I have their current keypad and have Many problems. I’m shopping for a new system that is why I’m here.

  15. @jrspat000 on July 25, 2025 at 8:08 pm

Vivint will not give you a price without running credit check

  16. @ChrisDeMicco on July 25, 2025 at 8:08 pm

You didn’t really talk about the Ring security system. Lol. IMHO is the best bang for your buck and best interface for entry level. You should add Unifi Protect in next year. Elite gear

  17. @Galivantin on July 25, 2025 at 8:09 pm

Great advice, thank you for the review.

  18. @tlb1018 on July 25, 2025 at 8:11 pm

    watch out for vivint

  19. @DeniseKeener on July 25, 2025 at 8:13 pm

    I hate vivint.
    Worse customer service

  20. @renarich4942 on July 25, 2025 at 8:13 pm

    uk or us

  21. @Ske3849qw on July 25, 2025 at 8:13 pm

And for 100+ years, AT&T is known for screwing people over with complicated contracts and a bunch of just absolute American communist nonsense. AT&T is in business not to help you. They’re in business to make money.

  22. @merionburns6309 on July 25, 2025 at 8:14 pm

Are you sure about Vivant?????? they stink in everything. I wouldn’t refer my worst enemy to them

  23. @josecarbajal6706 on July 25, 2025 at 8:18 pm

But if you have the cameras and ring camera you’re already paying $100 for that subscription and you add another 100 for monitoring that’s still cheaper than most for a month to month. Or am I wrong

  24. @solomonuk9847 on July 25, 2025 at 8:19 pm

No vivint adt ring is the best

  25. @BTC909 on July 25, 2025 at 8:21 pm

SimpliSafe Gen3 is trash (constant device disconnects) which still uses the old 433.92 MHz frequency. I didn’t have issues with Gen2 until my CO sensor died which is no longer produced. I saw a 50% off deal, I went for it and oh that was a mistake. Tech Support has the usual pull the power, pull the battery, wait, plug it back in script.

  26. @kengreskamp on July 25, 2025 at 8:22 pm

Dogs are the best security system.

  27. @adriandark5531 on July 25, 2025 at 8:22 pm

From the comments it seems no system is any good

  28. @jazzyflorida3757 on July 25, 2025 at 8:25 pm

I moved from ADT to Vivint 12/2024. I like the features and outdoor cameras and doorbell. The wall mount panel is sleek and professional. Equipment is not cheap but I was also to integrate my nest thermostat and some of my existing z wave door locks. You can add some of your own things if they are compatible

  29. @alexb013 on July 25, 2025 at 8:25 pm

Thanks to the commenters. Not vivint then.

  30. @BlueforceTracking on July 25, 2025 at 8:29 pm

    You have a great eloquence

  31. @AnthonyStivers-uc9zx on July 25, 2025 at 8:29 pm

Very pricey Vivint home alarms doorbell camera pickup every one coming in range just want to relax on the porch monitoring it’s not the greatest house filled with smoke 3 minutes no reply

  32. @DionnaWright-e3n on July 25, 2025 at 8:29 pm

What she saying about the security companies is incorrect not sure how old this video is but Vivint does five-year contracts at $69 for the first two years and $79 for that last three. ADT is way cheaper than that.

  33. @Starwolfe64 on July 25, 2025 at 8:30 pm

I love simpli safe! Very easy to set up and the monitoring is top notch with good customer service but they lack a lot of items. For example I wish they had native WiFi extenders and wireless doorbell cameras 😊

  34. @rogerr1296 on July 25, 2025 at 8:31 pm

Why do they make this so dam difficult?? (rhetorical question btw because I know why $$). All I’m looking for is a quality DIY home security system that I don’ t have to buy some kind of monitoring package for to save video to the cloud or even to a local hub and is a good quality. When I look online, none of them will tell you if you can save to the cloud without a monitoring subscription. Any recommendations or is it even possible?

  35. @syedjavedahmad9719 on July 25, 2025 at 8:32 pm

Thanks for your recommendations, this helps a lot.πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘

Better Not Need Service from ADT.
Stuck with the ADT system which was hard-wired into our home when we purchased it. Getting local service of their system is a monumental effort. Despite the fact that we have been paying bill from our home address for five years the local office was NOT, repeat, NOT, willing to send out a technician to our
address (which they have in their accounting system) and confirm that we do in fact have an ADT system, and that the ADT system is sending a "needs service" message. Absolutely infuriating. We have needed service about three times since we moved int. Each time, lots and lots and lots of effort and conversations with bots. I don’t even care about the substantive value of the ADT system compared to others. I would love out of this system.

  48. @alexwilliams4217 on July 25, 2025 at 8:45 pm

    SimpliSafe is cheap-ish quality.
After so many low battery/not responding errors I just gave up on maintenance for like 2 years and neglected the problems. But recently I got high quality batteries and weeded out the problem sensors. I’ll stay on top of things now.
And the keypads have trouble registering the Up, Down, Left and Right buttons, super frustrating sometimes.
The worst part above everything though: I’ve completely ditched their smoke alarms. After CONSTANT low battery/not responding errors from 3-4 of them and 2 false alarms I’m trusting another brand for smoke detection now (X-Sense) … I was busy at work and missed a Monitoring call, and the fire department responded. Dude. Screw SimpliSafe smoke detectors!!!
Oh yeah, and they had me on the "Core" plan and it’s $32, I’ve been paying this since 2019. I finally researched the plans available and the $10 Self-Monitoring plan sounds like a dream come true for me. Funny how they just throw you on whatever plan they want and that’s that – switching isn’t just an easy click of the button, I will have to call them.

Other than all that funk, I do feel covered. It’s bitter-sweet but I will stick with SimpliSafe indefinitely until… IDK, something changes.

  49. @RoseandMaryJ on July 25, 2025 at 8:47 pm

I got Vivant installed not long ago and I’d never do it again. The sell rep was somewhat pushy and the installer was no better. He stayed until midnight installing when arriving at 7 o’clock. He then left without saying a word and left the door unlocked for at least an hour as I had to attend to my children.

    Vivant also does credit checks.

  50. @roma_nova83 on July 25, 2025 at 8:50 pm

I’ve had Vivint for a long time. I have all new equipment and it’s worse than ever. Every few days something fails. A door lock not working, cameras offline. Panel needs to be rebooted. Another call to support. This equipment is pure πŸ’©stay away.
