Cool stuff. But, dude, do yourself a favour and install those sensors a proper way so they are not in the way. Makes me angry!

  2. @warrensurtees6552 on July 19, 2025 at 7:39 pm

Great set up but one problem that is always forgotten! A smart home should be smart to everyone not just the person who set it up.

  3. @Andrew1224gd on July 19, 2025 at 7:40 pm

My smart garage opener makes a beeping noise and the light flashes before the door starts moving.
Also has a door tilt sensor.
    Great safety features to have.

  4. @bigswisschh on July 19, 2025 at 7:41 pm

Stephen, one of my fears of building in smart home devices is the manufacture having back end access and security features for privacy. Is this not a concern?

5 Stars if you build it without any other hardware Hub. I bouild mine only with one homepod mini and and homebridge/HomeAssistant running on NAS. Than you have a clean setup. Control everything on Homekit with iPad Mini on Wall and the other Apple Devices. Its hard because you dont have so much hardware choices. But for me its nice and easy to config. And my wife loves my hardware switches. But mostly i can turn on the lights with automations and motions so i dont have to press some switches. I love it.

  13. @JerryJerryxyz on July 19, 2025 at 7:47 pm

Basically You’re saying in the first 5 seconds of the videos you are very wealthy or you scored the shit for free to do the video. 50 dollars for a light bulb. Youre looking at a good 500 bucks IF you have the tools to properly install the locks. Ive fantasized about all those things and then I remembered I had to save for a decade to buy this Mac so I’ll be happy with it if OS 15.2 hadn’t made it a glitch machine. Oh, my bladder just got automated by my apple home health app. It tellls me when to urinate. Let me just hit this shortcut and a Segway appears at my desk, the toilet senses my proximity to the bathroom with this nifty little signal finder for toilets a made it’s accurate within 3′ The toilet lid opens, Siri pull out my penis and my apple home pod which I have 4 of in each room because that’s just how we roll makes water dripping noise if the water disturbance sensor doesn’t detect my urine hitting the water. Nobody’s home so I won’t pretend to wash my hands. toilet detects when I leave from in front of it and this 13,000 dollar auto flush kit kicks in. I know it’s a bit pricey but in the event it ever gets plugged it comes with a plunge bot that I just love. sometimes I flush a roll down just so I can run it. A mans gotta eat. Who wants to push those pesky microwave buttons, go into home kit under nutrition prep tools and select microwave

awesome job showing off your ecosystem

  15. @OnlyOneSun on July 19, 2025 at 7:48 pm

Now with matter, is it possible to add some google devices that have matter on it ( ex. Google nest doorbell, google nest thermostat etc) to the apple home app? Also does Siri announce people who are at the door like google, because with a google subscription you can make it say β€œ so and so are at the door” does Siri do that aswell?

  19. @jenniferkuzman2451 on July 19, 2025 at 7:58 pm

Love your video! What is a HomePod? And do I need it? Or can I run all my devices through Siri on my phone?

    Amazing setup!

  21. @StreetSmartification on July 19, 2025 at 8:01 pm

he must have at least 2GB internet speed to feed all these devices

  22. @Dreamsshouldscareyou on July 19, 2025 at 8:01 pm

Can you make a video for what required for WiFi for it to work all around your house. I am doing quite a bit but for example I have a WiFi dead spot in my garage and don’t know what to do to fix it. I have a ubiquity system, but would not know how to add Wi-Fi coverage.

  23. @Tom_Wilk on July 19, 2025 at 8:02 pm

Rooms with no windows I use the Lutron motion sensor to turn in the lights automatically.

I personally love that you are this into HomeKit as much as I am. I have my HomeKit set up almost just like yours. I am single and live on my own, and I have motions sensors and all kinds of stuff so it really feels like my house follows me most of the time. The best set up ever is when you can get the house to really follow your routines so you don’t have to talk to Siri at all. It took a while to even learn my own routines, but now it feels incredibly seamless. I have my Hue Ceiling Lights coming tomorrow, which I am excited and nervous about, but I know it will be incredibly worth it!

    Hi

  34. @QuandaleDingleXV on July 19, 2025 at 8:18 pm

As stupid as it sounds, I couldn’t believe how considerate it was for you to think about the fact that every time you said the S word our HomePods would go off as well. And for the entire duration of the video, it probably would keep happening. For that you earned a sub, which I know isn’t much, but at least it’s my sub.

  35. @MarkMcGuireD on July 19, 2025 at 8:19 pm

How does the Logitech doorbell perform in terms of stability? Most reviews seem negative but it seems to be in a lot of folks homes.

Homekit is what I have decided on as well for my next home. Secure, and I will be honest what I do have in HK already, very reliable compared to either amazon or google.

  38. @seanbarber3209 on July 19, 2025 at 8:22 pm

15 minutes, 100 devices, ZERO door locks haha. Thanks for an otherwise nice tour, well done! PS I am going with Schlage Encode Plus

  40. @syleishere on July 19, 2025 at 8:24 pm

I noticed a big difference when I put home assistant in a VM on a powerful server in the basement. From there you can use apple homekit or Google local fulfillment integration, now when I say turn on/off a device it’s instant. I’m noticing many seconds delay in your video when you do it. I used to have that delay cause it would go talk to the cloud, or some low CPU power hub.

I go all zigbee and zwave mostly now so I don’t have to worry about any compromised hubs or smart devices.

But yeah after getting rid of hubs and having home assistant control all devices it’s instant.

  41. @cheapme1850 on July 19, 2025 at 8:24 pm

The Switchbot blind opener is one of the best home automation devices you can buy and help with home security. No more rushing home to close blinds once it gets dark and people can see straight through your home. They also serve as an alarm clock by waking up you up in the morning by opening at a designated time. I have homebridge so they work with my Apple Home but they also can be set up just with the Switchbot app.

  42. @JSsm987 on July 19, 2025 at 8:24 pm

Wow, how much do you think your home has cost? Including the house itself

  43. @jbauer140 on July 19, 2025 at 8:28 pm

And how much are the subscriptions with everything you have?? I know the ecobee has subscription correct?

If you ever get put in facebook jail, I just have a weird feeling one day it won’t let you enter your home for 30 days lol

  49. @TriSamples on July 19, 2025 at 8:36 pm

I have a couple bits of HomeKit and mostly automate them. I find whenever I have to control them, yes it always works but it’s slow enough that the idea of putting them on a switch would frustrate me. The delay is enough that anyone who didn’t know would already be clicking off again wondering if the switch was broken. The little edits here show it’s still not acceptable for you either.

  50. @carlsanche9748 on July 19, 2025 at 8:37 pm

I can’t even get 6 items without my WIFI overloading. We have slow service here in Alaska and had to disconnect several items
