You are going to want an USB extension cable/dock with a laptop. I’ve broken a couple of USB wifi adapters plugged into a laptop.

Another note is if you’re still on Windows 10, no 6Ghz for you…

A wifi 6E modem from amazon was $30 delivered and it made my home network rock for dimes on the $ ~ wifi7 is just new adaptor tax and apple devices don’t even support it anyway, so 100% not worth it for another year

  7. @ewwwt on July 3, 2025 at 7:24 pm

I actually bought that exact same model recently but under a different seller from Amazon and couldn’t get it to work…….
get the feeling it was one of those Chinese knock offs. :/

I need a suggestion for a WiFi 6 router because while my WiFi cards are 2.4gbp/s but the router I have from the cable company will only give me 1.2gbps so I would like to connect at full speed the other issue is both me and my partner game so I looking something that can take the heat and help my cable company router not to hitch out like it does now when are both gaming

For testing devices in LAN, you can deploy OpenSpeedTest locally.

  16. @beauslim on July 3, 2025 at 7:52 pm

Most of the new gear I’ve added in the last couple years came with 6GHz. The range is *really* short.

  17. @EViL3666 on July 3, 2025 at 7:54 pm

Your problem with SMB over WIFI, is the same issue with using SMB over WAN.. it’s a very chatty protocol, so latency has an exponential impact.

Set up Open Speed Test and give that a try..

Hey NAS, just wanna ask, i have a windows 11 laptop but the wifi on my hotel apartment is really slow. Can i use this to improve the slow internet? Signal is good , its just the speed is really bad.

Hi there! Really interesting video. Do you know if this adapter does support macOS or just Windows?

  20. @redwanhasan1721 on July 3, 2025 at 8:02 pm

    USB3.0 is 5Gbps and that’s theoretical max.
