The people at Lowe’s say they get many of the Yale locks returned.

  2. @zapdangdodidu9326 on December 31, 2024 at 6:18 pm

You want them to be loud. He gets that wrong, so i am assuming he doesn’t have one installed at his home. The newer Schlage is much more quiet and it’s not easy to audibly verify the door locked properly.

If anyone is considering Nest x Yale: don’t!

When you use it you have maybe 30 days or so before it whines about low battery for the next 6 months. Only way around it is to use disposable batteries.

  5. @WheelsOfJoy33 on December 31, 2024 at 6:20 pm

Can someone tell me if any of these locks will open from a distance? I am in a wheelchair and I’m looking for a lock that will open if I cannot get to the door inside the apartment any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Kwickset is the best affordable too.

If Samsung is not on this list…..then it’s not the right product review. Having lived in Korea for 8 years…..smart locks are the only things used by the majority.

Why are Android phones not recognized while Apple phones are? Come on lock companies.

Do not use Yale locks! I have an AirBandB and used these locks. They worked for a few months and suddenly stopped working the day a guest was checking in to my home. I was 2 hours away. I had to get a lock smith come out and charge $400 to break the lock. Yale refuses to help other than offering to replace the lock with another of their lock which I have zero confidence in

Don’t buy any Chinese spy crappy locks.

  12. @HakanaiVR on December 31, 2024 at 6:29 pm

There is a big issue with the Yale Assure 2 Z-Wave:

"This product will not work outside of the U.S. or Canada."

I don’t know what someone has to fuck up when designing a smart lock to make it only work in two countries, but I guess they managed to do it.

Bolt to the finish line with style.

  17. @WillThat on December 31, 2024 at 6:36 pm

Skip the Lockly from anywhere you’d buy it as a "normal consumer". You want the 728Z version that has Z-wave. It’s a little hard to find but worth it. And the Locklys are LPL approved. πŸ˜‚

Very cool video and informative video I enjoyed watching it. It would be cool to see a smart lock for the rental home-friendly to see your take on that point of view and more. πŸ˜ƒ

Any recommendations on interior door handle locks (not deadbolt, to replace interior turn handles…)

  23. @PCHUGGER on December 31, 2024 at 6:39 pm

Last year I installed some new Baldwin locksets on my house. Internally, they are identical to the Quickset locks that you reviewed. The shiny parts are what is different and what make them so much more expensive. They are gorgeous though. I mostly agree with your comments with a few exceptions.
    They are noisy
The key is a great feature if your batteries go dead while you are locked out. The key mechanism can make it a brain scratcher to get it working correctly, It needs to be mechanically aligned with the motor drive and is not explained well in the manual.
The two extra digits when unlocking (spreads out the finger prints) don’t bother me as I usually unlock and disarm with my phone using Honeywell Total Connect.
The small screws that hold on the inside cover are optional (RTFM). If you install them, no one can easily mess with the lock settings. You would also need to remove them when changing batteries. I left mine out.
These locks are my favorite Home Automation feature. When I go out and turn on the alarm (with my phone), all of the doors are locked. When I disarm the alarm, the back door is unlocked. I almost never user the keypad or keys.

I’ve had the LOCKLY lock for 6 years now and it has been great, only problem I’ve had is my fingerprint scanner stopping working years ago, and LOCKLY can’t figure at why, so they stopped assisting me with it. Otherwise it is great with all the features

  28. @frankm2588 on December 31, 2024 at 6:48 pm

If you have a regular lock and a deadbolt several inches above it, the deadbolt won’t be able to cover both lock holes, right? So you leave the regular knob in place and just put a smart lock where the old deadbolt was?

  29. @Solid_Snack on December 31, 2024 at 6:48 pm

I hate the puns. It was very difficult to unlock

  31. @jabelee2030 on December 31, 2024 at 6:50 pm

Also, Which of the Schlage locks have the longest battery life & why?

  32. @panhandletrains on December 31, 2024 at 6:51 pm

Will these work if the Internet goes down? πŸ€”

  33. @peypey14 on December 31, 2024 at 6:52 pm

Is there a lock that if you put in the code in April for the code to work it has to be your fingerprint so is someone else posting the correct password it won’t work if they don’t got your fingerprint πŸ€”

  34. @jabelee2030 on December 31, 2024 at 6:55 pm

Another question. For the Schlage smart locks with a mechanical key, are the rekeyable to your other locks on your home? Also are any other of the smart home locks you reviewed rekeyable to a kwikset or Schlage? ;thanks

iPhone users 12:13 over $300 and not many 1 star reviews but they are scary and some of the 5 star reviews appear fake.

What happens if the WiFi goes out?😊Are you locked out?

  44. @gumtree7177 on December 31, 2024 at 7:06 pm

Confusing for visitors well let them in. I don’t give visitors the code or keys anyways millions of people don’t run a air bnb lol πŸ˜‚

  45. @johnhcorwin on December 31, 2024 at 7:06 pm

What z wave hub do you use ?

  50. @SteveJones172pilot on December 31, 2024 at 7:10 pm

You’ve confirmed I made the right decision 10 years ago! I have 3 zwave Schlage Connect locks and LOVE them.. we’re building a new house now and I bought 2 more for it because it’s worked so well.. Great battery life too. One comment – You mentioned that it’s tough to manage temporary codes? I have mine in hubitat, and I manage all the codes through the lock code manager, and I can manage which codes work on which locks, set time/day of week limitations, etc, and it automatically updates the locks. I have even added codes when away from home and it has worked great. Not sure what it could do better!
