Befuddles me why anyone would buy anything from that Chinese junk peddling company.

How far away from house do you have to have it?

  4. @marcusholtzmann8387 on June 14, 2025 at 6:21 pm

    Predator 1400 now cost $479
Convenience of returns if a problem arrises is the best argument for paying a slightly higher price than a Generac generator.

still surprised they cant make quieter

  6. @iksnyzrog on June 14, 2025 at 6:25 pm

    Small engine = non-ethanol gas

  8. @michaelpawelski8444 on June 14, 2025 at 6:25 pm

Nice review, over priced for the output.

I don’t know anything electric related. I know mechanics but fuck electricity lol.

Could this model power up a wet/dry shop vacuum? I need one to take with me for work.

I bought a Westinghouse iGen2200 and it’s awesome. A bit more than $500 and worth it.

Great review. I really appreciate the technical breakdown. Especially with the oscilloscope.

  16. @Breakintermissum on June 14, 2025 at 6:29 pm

Do you think it can handle a power washer and a vacuum?

  17. @ShoeHefner757 on June 14, 2025 at 6:31 pm

What kind of oil goes in?

  18. @AJ-gz6qd on June 14, 2025 at 6:33 pm

Quite crazy to see the price increases in 3 years since this video came out. I’m looking for a generator for ice fishing. Something small like this generator that will run reliably in the cold. Suggestions?

  21. @pokerfacetv4644 on June 14, 2025 at 6:40 pm

Thank you for testing the heater. That’s what I was wondering about.

  22. @eharris6347 on June 14, 2025 at 6:41 pm

    Awesome

  23. @jimmywalker2429 on June 14, 2025 at 6:41 pm

Wish they produced it with a propane option like my bigger genset does.

  24. @ExxonValDeezNuts on June 14, 2025 at 6:42 pm

First, i hate that generators are rated by their short term power outout instead of by their actual output rating.

Second, I can no longer recommend harbor freight due to their incredibly high prices. Theres just no need for the price explosion their stores have had.

Third, there are far better options for tools and generators that cost significantly less. I bought a 1600 watt, constant output, inverter generator for a bit over $300 off of amazon, Genmax brand. It works great.

  25. @ChefDuane on June 14, 2025 at 6:43 pm

do you have to use ethanol free gas?

  26. @tadengleason8157 on June 14, 2025 at 6:45 pm

End of 2024 the generac is now 650 and predator is still 450

  27. @ernest9606 on June 14, 2025 at 6:45 pm

Definitely more bang for your buck

  28. @klxboy9994 on June 14, 2025 at 6:45 pm

All those super small inverters absolutely have their place but they not worth the money especially compared to the Sportsman GEN1000i when its on sale for $150 thru Tractor Supply. Which happens often enough to never pay full coin.

  29. @timothycarpenter4428 on June 14, 2025 at 6:45 pm

I got the 3500, Very impressed, These little Predators are awesome..

  31. @ashleycnoble3280 on June 14, 2025 at 6:48 pm

I just bought one recently , very disappointed. It wont even power a battery charger. Keeps jumping into overload. Tested several times. Useless, taking it back.

  32. @GoFastGator on June 14, 2025 at 6:52 pm

I don’t know who needs to hear this but splash lube engines do not “circulate oil” at cranking speeds.

  33. @bluedevils1983 on June 14, 2025 at 6:53 pm

I got one today at HF on the as is table for $290. Tested it, no issues. Win.

  34. @John-eq8cu on June 14, 2025 at 6:54 pm

No because cheap generators are more trouble than they are worth. A piston engine is such a dumb idea for generating electricity, and a cheap generator is so inefficient and unreliable, you’ll hate it. As the cheap generator runs, it scrapes metal filings from the cylinder walls and requires frequent oil changes. Over time, it will become harder and harder to start, and you’ll grow to hate it even more. The cheap generator is noisy, has little or no soundproofing to make you hate it even more. It won’t make the rated power, and its max power will drop off quickly as you go up in altitude causing you to think there’s something wrong with it. It has cheap power electronics that doesn’t do well under load on on hot days, easily trips off and overloads. It has a dirty sine wave output, which causes some types of electronics to complain about the power source.

After a few years, it will be put up for sale for less than $20 at a garage sale, and you’ll regret you ever even thought about buying such a terible piece of equipment that you want to rely on, but sadly, you can’t. In the end, it’s just a piece of trash.

You’re right about this predator: it’s underpowered compared with a ‘normal’ 2200W generator, and it’s pretty heavy at 37lbs, the 2200W might be only 8lbs heavier and put out 2x the power. The 800W output at sea level will be reduced to about 550W at 7000ft, making it basically useless. It’s too bad you didn’t try to actually measure the max power, i’d be curious if it could actually make 800W at sea level.

  37. @rhenanichan on June 14, 2025 at 6:57 pm

Would you be able to start and run a 1.5 HP air compressor with this?

  38. @stacky512a on June 14, 2025 at 6:59 pm

I employed a 25% off coupon for this purchase. It"s primary function is to quickly power up my ecoflow solar generators. I have larger gas generators for household appliances.

I do not recommend Generac!!! my experience was a nightmare with that company they don’t back up their product, I bought Generac at a local hardware which is a big hardware company in Northern California and the generator was the 3300 model I paid a lot of money for it and dial on off was not working out of the box, I contacted Generac And they told me I would have to drive 2 1/2 hours from my town with heavy traffic etc. and pay someone $300 minimum charge just to look at it and it was brand new out of the box that’s ridiculous I tried to get resolve with them for a month and finally The hardware store felt sorry for me and they refunded all my money, at least with Harbor freight you have a problem you can bring it back and if you get there #Warranty you will have no issue bringing it back, I recommend personally purchasing Honda or Yamaha which you can get serviced and warranty work done pretty much locally in any town you get what you pay for!!! I don’t wanna see anyone go through what I went through Generac has no repair dealers. we have one of the biggest small engine repair shops around they are very well known and they said they cannot even get Generac parts I almost got stuck with something that was worthless and I paid over $1000 for it do not buy Generac!!!!

  40. @keithjames4658 on June 14, 2025 at 7:03 pm

  48. @LamoidZombieDog on June 14, 2025 at 7:11 pm

  50. @patrickhenigin4805 on June 14, 2025 at 7:14 pm

    Wait a minute????
I bought a harbor fright inverter 2500 watt generator almost 20 years ago. It doesn’t get much use except occasional run, change fuel and oil.
    It still works.
My wife insisted on a new Honda eu2200i because it was a few lbs lighter and easier for her to start.
I’m really happy with my old harbor fright generator.
