Your Remote Desktop SUCKS. Windows Remote Desktop? Locked behind Windows Pro. Windows to Mac? Nope. My editors just switched to Mac, and now they need to remote in from home—but there’s no way to do it. Linux? xRDP? VNC? Too clunky, too complicated.
I want one remote desktop to rule them all—free, open-source, and working seamlessly on Mac, Linux, AND Windows. And guess what? I found it. In this video, I’ll show you the BEST remote-desktop solution you’ve never heard of. Plus, I’ll walk you through setting it up step-by-step so you can finally have a remote desktop that just WORKS.

How can I get someone to work for me remotely but access only one application on my computer?

Parsec > everything else
Great
I used Wingate 1995 to connect to let my teachers work from home. Nobody has ever thaught about Home-Office at this time. XD
Since TeamViewer kills its free historical functionality by making it paid … it’s a solution I might roughly consider !
Thanks for the explanation and the nice editing stuff (on Mike’s 🖥️)
I’ll definitely give it a try !
New sub here 👍🏼
I can just imagine the kinda "church" chuck goes to lol, chuck will be issuing the mark of the beast probably if it really is a chip lol.
rustdesk
For home and office use I have been using mRemoteNG, but this does not always work even though vnc is an option to log in. I will 100% be trying RustDesk. Thank you.
Hi 22:29
use Tailscale and place everything in your Tailnet. No need to do any port forwarding or pay for a VM in the cloud.
u leaked ur ip 18:22
Microsoft supports genocide.
3:11 bro, its an acronym, its G-U-I not goo-ee
Super cool tool. Muchas gracias pana!!
Great hidden advertising
Thanks to you I got this going. I can access my servers securely when I don’t have the luxury of connecting to VPN.
Microsoft is pretty dog shit but you can skip the $200 price tag with the mass gravel activation scripts. This doesn’t mean you should use windows as again it’s just dogshit in general but if you need rdp and don’t want to shell out the cash then use the activation scripts
13:25 Uncle Rico’s computer not working and you proceed to tell install rustdesk 😂😂😂.
Uncle Rico : I have seen this already. Keyboard not detected and told me to press any key.
hi buddy
Thanks for sharing
Gooey for GUI is just fun to say. Definitely GIF and not JIF tho…
3:11 met someone who say Earl when saying URL
you should of tried ZEROTIER 👌🏽💯
It is an interesting approach, but It depends on a use case and (for my opinion) has a few things to consider:
1) If you need to help your relatives once or a few times, you can just use Anydesk, because instead of explaining where to press and what text to enter (to connect their machine to your server), which can be hard depending on tech knowledge of people, you can limit actions to 3-4 clicks and saying ID to pair.
2) Despite the fact that 5$ is not expensive, technically it is not free and you still paying it even if you not using it. I know it is cheap, and you can configure auto shutdown etc., but still. Yes, you can configure it from local network but it less convenient and secure as a cloud.
3) For people who don’t trust rustdesk servers (and others else) it is important to remember that our server is still in someone hands, which are owning a host. So local hosting is an option for them instead of cloud.
4) You can also try using Parsec, due to its gaming orientation. It requires an account and a good connection but I think in terms of performance it can be even better.
Thank you for video. I am very interested to see the comparison between an existing solutions for remote desktop with rust desktop, just to measure if it is really great in performance and worth to use instead of all of them.
Parsec?
fantastic! thanks for the video
I’ve never paid for RDP just use cracked windows lol.
Can anyone tell which application can cast my screen during my exams
Thank you for doing sponsorship this way. Usually the moment a creator mentions a sponsor I just tap ‘next’ 6 times to skip 60 seconds. This was actually informative.
Ok so I’m very new to Remote Desktop, so let me see if I’m understanding this right.
So there are "native" solutions like Microsoft Remote Desktop (built in on Pro but also an app you can download on Mac to remote into a Windows Pro device?), and that will work better than anything else in this list, regardless of whether or not its on the same network (does it have to be on the same network?)
Then there are apps like Chrome Remote Desktop and those two you mentioned, which work anywhere with higher latency and inferior integration to the native solution?
Then there are apps you can download on host and accessing devices like RustDesk, which is worse than Microsoft’s native but better than web-based ones?
For apps like RustDesk, you can connect directly if you’re on the same network, but if you aren’t you have to create your own server/use one of their own public ones? Or if you use Twingate somehow it becomes a "direct" connection even though you aren’t on the same network? Is Twingate a VPN or something? Not sure what "Zero Trust" means.
And if you want to not use a public server, you don’t have to host your own on the host PC, but there are free solutions out there (is Docker free?) that let you create a cloud based server that don’t impact you at all, that you don’t have to maintain, that allow you to directly connect to the host without being on the same network? Does this require Twingate as well? Or is this an alternative? Are there performance differences?
Edit: A couple questions:
1. So these solutions (or at least some of them) don’t require the host device to be logged in, just powered on?
2. Are the solutions listed in the video better than the ones I’m seeing in the comments like Sunshine, Moonlight, and Tailscale for general usage/heavy CPU computations (not gaming, more CFD and CAD)
3. Does the native Remote Desktop have all the same functionality as the apps above.
Yolo just use Nomachine and done.
Parsec лучшая программа для удалённого доступа
hi
Question about security: My current setup is VNC over SSH tunnel with PKA. ALL other network activity is firewalled. Does Rustdesk support a similar setup? (Both server and client machines are Ubuntu, but different versions).
People have been saying “gooey” for GUI since the early 90s at least. Whoever gave you crap is a goofball.
this could be a 2m video man… lol WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lol
now do tailscale next — you can’t lol
twingate is too slow
The truth free app is calling "HopToDesk". It is with a same interface, same settings and so on, but it is really free, without any "buy" buttons, hidden in it!!!!
I used to use TeamViewer for years to connect to my home servers or my children’s PC at their home with their mum or theirs when they’re here at mine. But I got sick of the repetitive triggers for commercial use suspected. So I ditched it & discovered Anydesk & I think it’s brilliant. I can direct connect without internet to network connected machines, power on & everything else. But the positive is the file transfer speeds & the ease of using. I discovered however, they limit how many favourites you can have to 5 on the free license. But I asked them if they did anything to allow for more favourites & explained why. And without asking, they allowed me up to 30 favourites. So they won me over on this!
Are we all sure this isn’t Will Forte doing a character on YT in a beard? 😂
Network Chuck, Help me find a Arch Linux Hyprland Remote Desktop solution and i’ll kiss you.
I have never had a problem installing VNC
i tested rustdesk but i feel parsec is more responsive
can i use a laptop and connect my gaming pc and use my gaming pc from my laptop with cable ?my monitor is broken thanks!
